Senior Specialist, Corporate Solutions

The Opportunity

The Senior Specialist, Corporate Solutions plays a key role in providing service ownership and operational stewardship for AER's enterprise application services, with an initial focus on the Workday platform and the Human Resources, Finance, and Procurement business capabilities it supports.

This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of business, technology, service management, and vendor governance. Working closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, and managed service providers, you will help ensure enterprise application services remain reliable, well governed, operationally supported, continually improved, and aligned with organizational priorities. The role provides enterprise application service ownership and governance coordination including enhancement intake, assessment, prioritization processes, and release coordination. Business stakeholders remain accountable for business process decisions, requirements, and the prioritization of enhancements based on business value an strategic objectives.

As AER's Enterprise Applications portfolio evolves, this role will help shape how enterprise platforms and business applications are supported, governed, and optimized to deliver long-term value across the organization.

At the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER), you'll join a collaborative team dedicated to delivering innovative, client-focused technology services while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and service excellence.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Provide operational service ownership for assigned enterprise application services, with primary responsibility for Workday.

  • Provide enterprise application service oversight for platforms supporting Human Resources, Finance, and Procurement functions.

  • Partner with business stakeholders, technology teams, vendors, and managed service providers to deliver reliable, well-governed services.

  • Monitor service health, operational performance, risks, issues, and service outcomes, coordinating improvements where required.

  • Manage vendor and managed service provider relationships, including service level monitoring, performance reviews, issue resolution, and continual improvement activities.

  • Coordinate operational demand, enhancement requests, service priorities, and governance activities through established processes.

  • Coordinate governance review, enterprise impact assessment and provide cross functional visibility for enhancement requests and operational priorities.

  • Support operational readiness for upgrades, releases, patches and service lifecycle activities.

  • Maintain service documentation, support models, governance artefacts, and operational service information.

  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and clear communication across business, technology, vendor, architecture, cybersecurity, and governance groups.

  • Identify opportunities to improve service performance, operational efficiency, user experience, and business value across the Enterprise Applications portfolio.

What we're looking for in you:

  • A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

  • 7-10 years of experience in enterprise application service ownership or operational service management, including vendor and managed service provider oversight, stakeholder engagement, governance coordination, and support of large-scale enterprise SaaS platforms such as Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle Fusion Cloud, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or similar business applications.

  • Experience working with business stakeholders, technology teams, and managed service providers to deliver enterprise services.

  • Workday experience is preferred.

  • Advanced proficiency in enterprise application service ownership, including lifecycle management, ITSM practices, operational readiness, service performance, risk management, governance, and continual improvement.

  • Expertise in vendor and managed service provider management, including service level monitoring, performance assessment, issue resolution, contract support, and service reviews.

  • Strong proficiency in stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration, including facilitation, negotiation, relationship-building, and the ability to translate business needs into operational priorities across business, technology, vendor, and governance groups.

  • Strong competence in governance and demand coordination, including prioritization support, decision-making inputs, governance artefacts, and alignment with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, risk, and organizational standards.

  • Professional certifications considered assets are:

    • ITIL Foundation Certification

    • ITIL Managing Professional

    • Workday certification

    • ServiceNow certification

    • Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent)

  • Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes and collaborate effectively without formal authority, including navigating complex topics, responding to difficult questions, and adapting communication in unexpected situations.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-support skills, with the ability to use operational insight and performance metrics to drive improvement.
