Job Description

At Syngenta, we believe every employee has a role to play in safely feeding the world and taking care of our planet. To support that challenge,  the Syngenta Seeds team is currently seeking a Golden Harvest Strategic Farm Business Partner located in Iowa.

Role Purpose: The Golden Harvest Strategic Farm Partner will serve as the primary relationship manager and trusted advisor to progressive accounts farming 2,500+ acres.

Territory: Central Iowa

Duties:

  • Develop commercial execution for responsible geography taking into account individual farmers  Top Producer strategies and competitive environment.
  • Leads relationship development and serves as the single point of contact.
  • Pro-actively visits  farmers to understand their operations and their specific needs,.  Will target  farmers that are > 2500 acres. 
  • Provides early farm insights through analytics to help growers.
  • Connects the farmers to the best of Syngenta solutions to solve relevant pain points and day-to-day challenges.
  • Develop individualized touchpoint plans to ensure a personalized experience for each  farmer.
  • Manages complex negotiations with the farmers, with a focus on strengthening the relationship and “win-win” outcomes while optimizing discretionary budget spend aligned with District discretionary spend. 
  • Advises farmers on their farm operations by helping them to identify best products, services, and solutions which maximize their yield and profitability. 
  • Creates and maintains a strong network of farmers, academics,, agronomists, retail and leadership to bring value to the farm.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Business, Agronomy, or Agricultural Science.  Minimum 3-5 years in production agriculture (Seed sales, Agronomy, Grain Origination, Crop Protection, Digital Ag).
  • Must live in the territory.
  • Demonstrated history of selling, servicing, and negotiating with  2,500+ acre growers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of grower P&L, and day-to-day farm operations.
  • Demonstrated book of business and history of selling.
  • Demonstrated expertise in agronomy with deep knowledge of both seed products and digital tools.
  • Experience managing medium to large-scale business operations.
  • Must have contacts at major accounts of 2,500 + acres and be able to effectively manage the sales process for million-dollar accounts.
  • Ability to establish and foster personal and strategic relationships with large growers, spanning more broadly than Syngenta product knowledge.
  • Ability to understand key issues/pain point with large growers and to develop specific action plans.
