Maintenance Technician

Holiday Inn Express – Plattsburgh, NY

Holiday Inn Express is looking for a dependable and hands-on Maintenance Technician to help keep our hotel safe, functional, and well maintained. This position performs routine repairs, preventative maintenance, and general upkeep throughout guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.

Responsibilities
  • Complete routine maintenance and repair work throughout the hotel

  • Respond to guest room maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner

  • Perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repair work

  • Troubleshoot and repair fixtures, lighting, locks, doors, toilets, sinks, and other hotel equipment

  • Perform preventative maintenance on guest rooms and hotel equipment

  • Assist with HVAC troubleshooting and routine maintenance

  • Inspect guest rooms and public areas for maintenance concerns

  • Complete work orders and document completed repairs

  • Maintain tools, equipment, maintenance areas, and supplies in an organized manner

  • Assist with minor furniture, wall, flooring, and cosmetic repairs

  • Replace filters, light bulbs, batteries, and other routine maintenance items

  • Assist with exterior property upkeep as needed

  • Help maintain compliance with hotel safety, fire, and life-safety requirements

  • Identify larger repair needs and communicate them to hotel management

  • Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors when directed

  • Follow hotel and IHG safety procedures and brand standards

  • Assist other departments with maintenance-related needs as necessary

Qualifications
  • Previous maintenance, construction, facilities, or repair experience preferred

  • General knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently

  • Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests

  • Professional and courteous when working in occupied guest areas

  • Basic computer or mobile-device skills for work orders and communication

  • Valid driver's license preferred

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Employees must be able to safely lift and carry tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies and use ladders as required.
