A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A Maintenance Assistant

This role supports the Maintenance Director in ensuring the facility remains safe, clean, and well-maintained for residents, staff, and visitors

Assist and take direction from the Maintenance Director in daily operations

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on handrails, windows, walls, ceilings, flooring, and other facility components

Painting walls and ceilings as needed

Assist with maintenance of HVAC systems, emergency lighting, fire alarms, and sprinkler systems

Performs general landscaping, yard work including mowing, cleanup, and other types of general yard work

Maintain the building and grounds to ensure a clean, safe, and orderly environment

Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Maintenance Director, as needed

Provide excellent customer service to residents and families, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment

Perform additional duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS FOR Maintenance Assistant

  • Ability to work independently while following direction and feedback

  • Knowledge of basic repairs and general facility maintenance

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new maintenance procedures

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions related to maintenance and safety protocols

  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety, sanitation, and organization

  • Experience working in a healthcare setting or with the elderly is preferred
