Tooling Manager � Plastic Injection Molding

Join Our Team
Purpose of the Role: The Tooling Manager leads all tooling operations within our plastic injection molding facility. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient mold maintenance, repair, and performance while guiding a skilled team of mold technicians. You'll play a key part in improving tooling reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting production goals through strong leadership and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
Safety & Team Leadership
  • Create and maintain a safe, controlled environment for all tooling operations
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of mold technicians through clear expectations and ongoing support
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful culture grounded in human-centered leadership
  • Support team growth through training, feedback, and career development opportunities

Tooling Maintenance & Reliability
  • Oversee and prioritize all mold repair and maintenance activities
  • Partner with production and maintenance teams to coordinate preventive maintenance (PM)
  • Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve uptime and efficiency
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels for mold components and standard replacement parts

Technical Support & Continuous Improvement
  • Provide hands-on technical support for troubleshooting and mold repair challenges
  • Use structured problem-solving to identify root causes and eliminate recurring issues
  • Interpret blueprints, specs, and technical documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on tooling reliability and performance

Supplier & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Build and manage strong relationships with tooling suppliers and vendors
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to support production goals and scheduling
  • Help align tooling performance with overall plant objectives

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
  • 3+ years of leadership experience (preferred)
  • 5+ years of injection molding experience (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience working with CMMS systems (JD Edwards preferred)
