This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Tasks:This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and maintenance upkeep on all feed blend equipment. The mill receives in raw ingredients and produces a variety of different poultry feeds. Perform preventive maintenance and repair maintenance on all feed mill equipment and facilities. Troubleshoot maintenance issues as needed. Assist in spare parts inventory control and procurement. Maintain all records as required by Tyson and/or other regulatory agencies. Maintain full knowledge of and comply with all Tyson and/or other agency safety, electrical, hot works, environmental, lock out/tag out, forklift operation, rail car mover operation, boiler operation, and all other policies and/or procedures.

Requirements:Intermediate computer skills which include proficiency in Windows based programs such as WORD and EXCEL. Must pass Tyson Forklift Training Test within 30 days. Must possess a good mechanical aptitude.Must have some experience with mechanical, electrical, power transmissions (gear boxes), motor control, conveyors (drags), pneumatics, plumbing, welding and fabrication. Experience with PLCs and hydraulics is not required but would be a plus. Must be able to operate small tools and welders.Must be able to troubleshoot problems.Must have an Alabama Driver License with a good driving record.Must be able to work extra hours, overtime, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to accommodate shift start changes as necessary.Must be willing to be called in or be on call. Must be able to climb vertical ladders in excess of 100 ft. Must be capable of lifting from 50 lbs. up to 100 lbs. (equipment, bags of ingredients, etc.). Must be able to stoop, bend, squat, climb, push, and pull various loads. Must be able to work in high, elevated areas. Must be able to withstand long periods of standing.Must be able to perform jobs with repetitive motions which utilize hand and wrist motions. Must be willing to wear appropriate personal protection (ear plugs, reflective vests, safety harnesses, safety goggles, dust masks, etc.) and required safety items. Must be able to work in inclement working conditions which includes working indoors in a hot, non-toxic airborne dusty environment where temperatures can range from 10 degrees in the winter to over 100 degrees in the summer. Must be willing to perform all other duties assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of six (6) months of industrial maintenance experience or be a graduate of a Maintenance Training Program. Experience/training must be documented on the application or resume. Experience may be a combination of employers as long as the total experience equals at least six (6) months.
  • Must have six (6) months of continuous work history with one (1) employer within the last twenty-four (24) months, regardless of whether the position held was a Maintenance position or not.
