Job Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee and manage the maintenance operations of all equipment and machinery used in the dairy processing plant. This includes maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the smooth operation of machinery and systems involved in the processing, packaging, and distribution of dairy products. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards while leading a team of maintenance technicians over a 24/7 operation.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coordinate, and schedule all maintenance activities for plant equipment, including pasteurizers, separators, packaging lines, and refrigeration systems.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure optimal plant operation.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues that affect production.
  • Manage a team of maintenance technicians, providing training, performance evaluations, and guidance.
  • Develop work schedules, assign tasks, and ensure timely completion of maintenance projects.
  • Foster a safe, collaborative, and productive work environment, ensuring adherence to company policies and safety regulations.
  • Maintain and repair production and packaging equipment, ensuring compliance with quality control standards.
  • Oversee facility infrastructure maintenance, including HVAC, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
  • Manage the calibration and upkeep of instruments to ensure accurate readings for production processes.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) and FDA guidelines.
  • Enforce safety standards and maintain a clean, safe working environment in line with OSHA and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety training sessions and safety audits for maintenance team.
  • Track inventory levels of spare parts and maintenance supplies, ensuring stock levels are maintained.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and reducing costs where possible.
  • Implement capital projects, maintenance improvements and upgrades
  • Collaborate with other departments (production, quality assurance, etc.) to enhance plant performance and achieve production targets.
  • Document all maintenance activities, including work orders, maintenance logs, and equipment repairs.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on maintenance performance, downtime, and compliance to plant management.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field. A bachelor's degree is a plus.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in industrial or dairy processing plant maintenance, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of dairy production equipment, refrigeration systems, and process control systems.
  • Expertise in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with HACCP and food safety standards in the dairy industry.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to manage a team and collaborate with other departments.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Certifications in industrial maintenance, electrical work, or related areas 
Work Environment:

  • Dairy processing plant, which may involve exposure to heat, noise, and working with heavy machinery.
  • On-call availability for emergency repairs or maintenance outside of regular work hours may be required.
