Lewiston is Clearwater Paper’s original manufacturing facility and home to nearly 700 dedicated team memberswho power our site. Together, we make paperboard used in products across the United States, including food packaging, plates, cups and more. Home to the first mill that produced poster board from wood waste, the site currently operates two paper machines, two extruders, two power boilers and two recovery boilers.

Located where the Snake and Clearwater rivers meet on the Idaho-Washington border, Lewiston offers an active outdoor lifecycle with easy access to fishing, boating, hiking and camping. The region’s milder climate means more rain than snow in the winter and long, sunny days in the summer.

The Maintenance Manager II for the Pulp, Power, and Recovery areas is responsible for development of the organization to achieve expected results in safety, environmental compliance, quality, productivity, cost and employee development. This position will assist the area craft supervisors in coverage of the department responsibilities and manage and lead the crews in the supervisor’s absence.

• Responsible for managing the back-end maintenance groups
• Provides positive role model for all mill personnel in the area of safety, quality and productivity
• Provides guidance, instruction and mentoring for the maintenance staff
• Provides periodic feedback to employees in the areas of job knowledge, performance, and development. Provides training where needed to improve employee skill sets critical to the success of the business
• Manages employee overtime and equipment reliability to achieve lowest maintenance costs for the mill
• Responsible for resolving maintenance employee relations issues
• Direct supervision of the facilities coordinators to maintain buildings, grounds, fire protection and utility systems

• Sets objectives and goals cascaded and aligned to the site Integrated Business Plan (IBP)
• Coaches the business unit in the right behaviors Ensures the business unit works to standards (Safety, Quality, etc.)
• Develops the required standards
• Coaches and facilitate losses elimination by using problem solving tools
• Assures the problems are solved (root cause) and tasks are implemented in a sustainable way

• Assists with leading the safety effort for the maintenance staff
• Identifies safety issues that may arise due to equipment modification
• Maintains a clean and orderly environment conducive to safe work habits, encourages employee accountability
• Ensures the mill is compliant with local state and federal rules in the area of maintenance equipment
• Actively seeks and allocates appropriate decision-making authority or task responsibility to appropriate individuals based on their abilities, availability, motivation, and development needs; considers potential positive and negative impact, business unit priorities, organizational values, and the opportunity to enhance others’ knowledge and skills
• Identifies barriers that impact customer service and retention; communicates concerns and recommendations to others
• Uses understanding of customer needs and the organization’s customer service practices to set priorities, make decisions, and take actions that create customer satisfaction and prevent service issues from occurring
• Creates relevant options for addressing problems and opportunities that will achieve desired outcomes
• Systematically evaluates business opportunities, targeting those with the greatest potential for producing positive business results

• Bachelor’s degree required. Industrial Management or Engineering degree preferred
• 7+ years’ experience in paper mill maintenance, engineering, project management and/or production management required
• 3+ years of supervisory experience
• High speed manufacturing environment, sustained exposure to high frequency noises, multiple hours standing, walking on concrete surfaces
• Personal Protective Equipment required in mill environment
• Dirt, noise, odor, and temperature extremes
• Climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding
• Work environment includes exposure to compressed air, steam, lubrication oil, dust, and hydraulic fluid
