Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse Manager with a strong Oncology Nursing background for a 13-week contract assignment in Moab, Utah.

This leadership role is ideal for an RN who combines hands-on oncology experience with proven supervisory and team-management skills. The Nurse Manager will oversee day-to-day nursing operations, support clinical staff, promote high-quality patient care, and help maintain an effective and collaborative work environment.

Candidates must have at least 2 years of Oncology Nursing experience, a minimum of 3 years of recent RN experience, prior leadership or supervisory experience, and current Utah RN licensure.

The schedule is primarily Monday through Friday but requires flexibility and participation in an on-call rotation that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities

        Provide leadership and operational oversight for assigned nursing services.

        Supervise, support, and coordinate nursing staff and daily clinical operations.

        Promote safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.

        Support oncology nursing workflows and ensure appropriate standards of care are followed.

        Assist with staffing, scheduling, coverage, and workload coordination.

        Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance support to nursing staff.

        Help build and maintain a cohesive, professional, and collaborative nursing team.

        Respond to clinical and operational issues in a timely and professional manner.

        Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, pharmacy, ancillary departments, and hospital administration.

        Support safe administration and monitoring of oncology and infusion therapies within applicable scope and policies.

        Ensure appropriate documentation and use of electronic health records.

        Maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

        Monitor compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.

        Participate in quality-improvement and patient-safety initiatives.

        Help identify workflow issues and implement practical process improvements.

        Assist with orientation and onboarding of new staff.

        Support staff education and ongoing clinical competency.

        Participate in emergency response and escalation when necessary.

        Perform additional leadership or clinical duties based on department needs.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have:

        Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Utah

        Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program

        Minimum 3 years of recent RN experience

        Minimum 2 years of Oncology Nursing experience

        ONS certification required

        Current BLS

        Current ACLS

        Previous supervisory, charge nurse, management, or other formal healthcare leadership experience

        Strong experience with electronic health records

        Ability to lead and support a multidisciplinary nursing team

        Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

        Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information appropriately

        Ability to remain calm and effective in stressful clinical situations

        Flexibility to perform additional duties based on operational needs

Oncology Experience

Schedule & On-Call Requirements

        40 hours per week

        Primarily Monday through Friday

        Flexible scheduling based on department needs

        On-call responsibilities are required

        On-call coverage may include:

o   Evenings

o   Weekends

o   Holidays

        Candidates should be prepared to respond to clinical or staffing needs outside standard business hours when scheduled for call.

The facility defines the workweek as beginning Sunday at 12:01 AM and ending Saturday at 11:59 PM.

Work Environment

This position is within an acute-care hospital environment with Level IV trauma capabilities.

The Nurse Manager must be comfortable balancing administrative leadership responsibilities with the clinical realities of an active hospital environment. Strong judgment, emotional maturity, adaptability, and the ability to handle changing priorities are important for success.
