Job description

Cooper Farms is a family-owned farm and food company based in Northwest Ohio for over 85 years. Our Van Wert Cooked Meats Plant in Van Wert County, Ohio creates, cooks, and slices some of the highest quality deli products on the market for brands you know and trust. Cooper Farms is currently seeking a 1st shift Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Van Wert.

The primary goal of this position is the effective leadership of all maintenance technicians to maintain equipment in proper working order for the purpose of efficient production while striving for departmental excellence.

SHIFT HOURS: Monday through Friday 6am-3pm
STARTING RATE: Commensurate with experience
ADDITIONAL PAY: Monthly and year-end profit sharing bonuses (dependent upon company performance)
Job Functions:
  • Assign job duties for maintenance technicians.
  • Recommend measures to improve equipment performance and overall quality of products.
  • Initiate appropriate steps to prevent workplace injuries and accidents.
  • Review training procedures to make sure all team members are properly trained.
  • Recommend personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, and terminations.
  • Assist the technicians in trouble shooting when needed.
  • Hold monthly departmental meetings.
  • Work with other supervisors and team members to achieve overall effectiveness.
  • Monitor and assign work orders and PMs.
  • Help review and implement BEST Improvement Ideas.
  • Have an active role in the business plan.
  • Communicate with other maintenance supervisors and maintenance manager any appropriate issues.
  • Maintain an active role in product safety, legality, and quality systems.
