Job description

Cooper Farms is a family-owned farm and food company based in Northwest Ohio for over 85 years. A commitment to teamwork and quality has made us one of the top turkey, hog and egg companies in the U.S. and awarded the company and its team an excellent reputation. Our Fort Recovery Feed & Animal Division in Mercer and Darke counties, in Ohio, produces and delivers feed while providing support to our contract farmers raising animals for production. Cooper Farms is currently seeking a Sales Manager to join our team inFort Recovery.

The primary goal of this position is to sell targeted value-add products into targeted foodservice and retail accounts. It is the responsibility of this position to grow profitable business and develop long-term relationships with customers in the continental US. Focus is for sales opportunities for liquid egg products, shell eggs for retail or foodservice and to help grow a profitable line of Cooper Farms or private-label products.

SHIFT HOURS: Monday through Friday

STARTING RATE: Commensurate with experience

ADDITIONAL PAY: Monthly and year-end profit-sharing bonuses (dependent upon company performance)

Job Functions:

  • Prospect for and manage long term customers who will maximize our net sales revenues on targeted value-add products and develop those relationships
  • Explore and onboard relationship-based accounts who fit the Cooper Farms business model and can maximize our volume and production capabilities
  • Develop sales relationships that will grow and retain business
  • Be consistent in touchpoints through all types of communication including customer visits and pricing revie
  • Manage the broker system, if applicable, to ensure our targeted products are being presented properly
  • Ensure current customer base is serviced to the best of our ability, and better than our competition would
  • Responsible for staying up to date on state regulations governing products
  • Send out weekly updates to appropriate recipients
  • Develop and maintain a yearly strategic business plan
  • Provide ideas which will improve targeted product line and provide better service to customers
  • Maintain high ethical standards in dealing with customers and representing Cooper Farms
  • Attend and work food shows as required to maintain or improve customer relations
  • Understand the current product offerings of your competitors to better realize what obstacles may be faced, and to stay ahead of competition
  • Establish short-term and long-term goals and performance metrics and report regularly on progress
