    POSITION SUMMARY

      The Wholistic Wellness Helper supports the cultural knowledge wellbeing of participants through grounded, respectful, and relational practice. The role contributes to a wholistic approach to care that reflects First Nations ways of knowing and being while aligning with contemporary, inclusive, and evidence-informed wellness principles.

      Working under the guidance of the Knowledge Keeper, and under the direction of the Supervisor, the Wholistic Wellness Helper provides individual and group-based support, facilitates wellness-focused activities, and assists in the integration of culturally grounded practices within the organization in a way that is inclusive, trauma-aware, and responsive to diverse lived experiences. This role emphasizes relationship-building, emotional safety, accountability, and balance-supporting participants to strengthen connection to self, community, culture, and identity.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      ย - Work collaboratively under the guidance of the Knowledge Keeper to support wellness-focused programming and activities

      ย - Support the delivery of individual and group wellness supports that promote emotional regulation and connection

      ย - Assist with the coordination and facilitation of group discussions and culturally grounded activities when requested

      ย - Support ceremonies, gatherings, or community events as guided by the Knowledge Keeper, ensuring respectful, inclusive, and safe practice

      ย - Provide strengths-based encouragement, coaching, and guidance to participants in a manner that respects autonomy and lived experience

      ย - Support participants both individually and in group settings, maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality

      ย - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure wellness support aligns with care plans and organizational values

      ย - Assist with program coordination tasks such as scheduling, communication, resource preparation, and documentation as required

      ย - Model healthy relationships, accountability, emotional awareness, and respectful communicationย  ย Participate in ongoing learning, reflection, and organizational training related to wellness, culture, and practice developmentย 

      QUALIFICATIONS

      - Education

      ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  - A combination of relevant education, training, and lived or professional experience will be considered

      Experience

      ย -ย  Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a related role supporting individuals in residential, community, or social service environments

      ย -ย  Experience supporting individuals impacted by trauma, family disruption, system involvement, or social inequities

      ย -ย  Familiarity with culturally grounded approaches to wellness and community-based support

      ย -ย  Experience or understanding of harm reduction, trauma-aware, and strengths-based practice

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

      ย - Experience learning from elders and knowledge keepers on protocols and practices of our healing and helping ways as First Nations people

      ย - Ability to facilitate or support group activities in a respectful and inclusive manner

      ย - Understanding or willingness to learn and share the culturally distinct heritage and histories of our First Nations people

      ย - Understanding of First Nations histories, contemporary realities, and the impacts of colonization and intergenerational trauma

      ย ย - Knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action, Calls for Justice related to

      ย  ย  ย  ย  ย - MMlWG2S+, and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). Demonstrated ability to work within relational, community-centered, and participant-led frameworks
