Job description

Job Title: Maintenance Assistant

Reports To: Director of Maintenance

Status: Non-Exempt

Positions Summary:

Assists in the maintenance of the facility, equipment and grounds to ensure a safe viable maintenance program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides maintenance and repairs involving the buildings, equipment and grounds. Changes screens and storm windows and performs housekeeping duties in high places. Runs errands as requested. Assists in handling incoming and outgoing freight. Services wheelchairs and geri- chairs and moves resident oxygen as required. Changes light bulbs as required and is responsible for maintaining plumbing, heating, air conditioning, electricity and removing snow and trash from facility. Remains on call for emergencies. Responsible for mechanical maintenance of facility vehicles. Performs all tasks and duties in an efficient and safe manner. Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary. Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by departmental and facility needs. Represents Vita Healthcare in a manner that conveys professionalism, confidentiality, courtesy, fairness, personal integrity, and respect for the fundamental rights, dignity, personal comfort and privacy of others.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School graduate or graduate of Technical School preferred. Must be able to effectively communicate with older adults in a manner that conveys warmth and professionalism

LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATION

Must have valid Maryland driver’s license.
