BASIC PURPOSE/SCOPE
The Maintenance Apprentice develops and learns to provide maintenance skills as a resource for the maintenance function to ensure effective equipment operation. Becomes proficient at performing inspections, preventive and predictive maintenance, emergency and other maintenance/mechanical repair of bakery equipment to ensure safe and efficient operational status.
โ€ข The Maintenance Apprentice will focus on completing all required coursework to attain minimum requirements of Maintenance skillsets within a specified amount of time. (Much of the course work is "On-Line")
โ€ข They will work with Qualified Maintenance Mechanics to attain OJT and develop practical skills within a specified amount of time.
โ€ข The Maintenance Apprentice will work towards milestones set forth by Maintenance Leadership.
โ€ข This will be the first step to grow as a Maintenance Mechanic towards higher levels within the progression path.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
โ€ข Learn and develop, at a minimum, all safety requirements, required mechanical, troubleshooting, communication and behavioral skillsets to function efficiently at minimum required qualified mechanic standards.
โ€ข Successful completion of required coursework to develop required Maintenance skillsets
โ€ข Learn to perform preventive maintenance on bakery equipment.
โ€ข Assist in inspection and upkeep of machinery and equipment.
โ€ข Learn to repair/replace components on motors, pumps, mixers, conveyor lines, ovens, coolers, etc.
โ€ข Learn to inspect/replace belts, hoses, and drive components as needed.
โ€ข Become proficient at ensuring equipment integrity and timely repair.
โ€ข Become proficient at completing and documenting work orders on equipment.
โ€ข Ensure equipment in area is maintained, guarded and operated in accordance with defined safety regulations and procedures.
โ€ข Understand levels of line downtime and waste caused by equipment issues and associated points of cause.
โ€ข Proactively identify improvement focus areas.
โ€ข Participate in root cause problem solving by team.
โ€ข Identify potential cost savings and cost avoidance.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
โ€ข Fluent in English.
โ€ข Pass required exam/test for acceptance into Apprenticeship program
โ€ข Flexibility to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime as scheduled
โ€ข Able to attain basic Maintenance skills
โ€ข Able to attain basic computer skills
โ€ข Ability to work off ground level with proper safety training and safety equipment
โ€ข Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned environment.

โ€ข Experience in a bakery
