Job description

Maintenance Assistant

Our company is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Assistant to join our growing team! 

The Maintenance Assistant will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems. The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for providing support to the Director of Maintenance and to the entire facility by ensuring the cleanliness, safety and good working order of all equipment and facilities.

Maintenance Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, grounds and infrastructure

  • Ensure the proper operation of all equipment and systems; troubleshoot equipment issues

  • Conduct regular maintenance inspections, identifying issues that may need repair, replacement or upgrades

  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests as needed

  • Conduct regular cleaning, preventative maintenance and routine repairs to equipment and systems, such as HVAC, electrical systems, lighting, and plumbing

  • Assist with the coordination of outside contractors and vendors for repair and maintenance projects

  • Monitor inventory levels for maintenance supplies and equipment; reorder and restock as needed

  • Ensure that work areas and tools are kept clean, organized and safe

Maintenance Assistant Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in maintenance or related field desired

  • Familiarity with hand and power tools, and the ability to safely use them

  • Strong understanding of general maintenance and repair issues related to buildings, grounds, equipment, and electrical and plumbing systems

  • Able to lift up to 50lbs and work in environments with exposure to heat, cold and noise

  • Basic computer literacy, including experience with email, MS Word and Excel

  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and time-management skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
