Job description

Overview
Manages the daily activities of configuration and operation of business systems which may be mainframe, mini, or client/server based. Optimizes system operation and resource utilization and performs system capacity analysis and planning. Helps users in accessing and using business systems.
Specifically, the windows Computer Network Support Specialist (Cisco) will be responsible for supporting systems and applications on a geographically dispersed Windows 10 Enterprise network with multiple types of servers and server applications. The CNSS will be responsible for Windows system administrator functions supporting a global Active Directory infrastructure in a mixed Windows environment.
The CNSS will provide senior level knowledge and Tier 1/2 support to the customer and their components to include Tier 1/2 infrastructure troubleshooting and support that involves the configuration and administration of servers in their area of operation.
Additionally, the SA will provide remote support and/or travel to customer servers and sites as required.
Unaccompanied with company provided housing.
Responsibilities
  • Performs a variety of difficult assignments associated with monitoring and controlling computer operating systems.
  • Supervises and manages the daily activities of configuration and operation of business systems.
  • Optimizes system operation and resource utilization and performs system capacity analysis and planning.
  • Helps users in accessing and using business systems.
  • Sets up and maintains more than one type of computer system such as Open VMS Systems/DSM environments, UNIX systems (SCO and SUN), and Windows systems. Analyzes system faults and troubleshoots and runs diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems.
  • Evaluates and installs developed software during various phases of testing.
  • Reviews and prepares documentation for systems, tests and installation of software.
  • Investigates and recommends methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Initiates preventive maintenance on the operating systems as well as repair to system/environment problems.
  • Administers systems/environment solutions for multiple projects with varying schedules.
  • Interfaces with vendors for trouble calls.
  • Supports the planning of system/environment requirements for individual projects.

Qualifications
Education:
  • One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required. Use the guide below to determine education and experience for this position.
  • BA/BS +3 years recent specialized or AA/AS +3 years recent specialized or major cert + 5 years recent specialized experience.

Certifications:
  • Secret Clearance
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
  • CompTIA Security + (IAT Level II or greater)

Experience:
  • Adaptable to changing circumstances and operational needs.
  • Experience working in VMware ESXi environments.
  • Experience with network storage (SAN/NAS)
  • Experience with enterprise backup solutions
  • Understanding of Department of Defense Military standards
  • Experience working with and supporting Cisco Routers and Switches
  • The candidate will be required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that require team interaction and coordination of efforts.

Other Requirements:
  • ITIL v3 - Foundation
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Automation using Microsoft PowerShell, VBScript, or batch files.
  • Experience with Microsoft SCCM
  • Experience working with DoD or government contracts preferred.

Skills and Technology Used:
  • Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping abilities
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to work in varied weather conditions on a remote island.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations including after-hours calls.
