JOB SUMMARY:
The primary function of each employee is to help United Solutions achieve its Mission:

Responsible for operating computer, computer-related hardware and other operations area equipment. Performs support activities in computer operations. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains a professional and courteous attitude with staff and business contacts.
  • Maintains knowledge of the company's philosophy, rules, and policies, appropriately reflecting these in all activities and interactions with co-workers, clients, and the public to ensure confidentiality.
  • Observe computer consoles and peripheral equipment for error messages displayed to detect faulty output, machine stoppage, problems or warnings; report such messages and problems to supervisor.
  • Load peripheral equipment with selected materials such as tapes and printer paper or forms for operating runs.
  • Observe equipment to determine the end of operating run and review schedule to determine next assignment.
  • Document when jobs are properly completed.
  • Submit jobs for processing and check for accuracy.
  • Ensure that data transfer files are transferred correctly and on-time; e.g. ACH, Debit Card, Credit Card, Share Draft, Bill Payer.
  • Assists in the training of other computer operators in all tasks of the shift and the operation of all equipment.
  • Distribute computer generated reports or puts spooled reports to optical retrieval system.
  • Identify data processing exceptions and notify appropriate personnel.
  • Record billable items on daily clipboard sheets.
  • Perform system backups and send backup files off site.
  • Assists clients with questions, problems, or complaints.
  • When answering intercom, ensure that only authorized delivery personnel or employees gain entrance to USC building.
  • Protect and respect USC equipment and supplies, maintain minimal work distractions.
  • Lean to add, modify, delete, and re-start jobs in the ISE Job Scheduler module.
  • Verify reports and other outputs are complete and are of good quality before release.
  • In addition to advising supervisor and a senior operator, notify data processing vendor or maintenance personnel if error or failure cannot be located.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor.
  • Maintain security of building, computer equipment and confidentiality of data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and support all areas of the company and its affiliates.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Interpersonal abilities. A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and under constant pressure.
  • Ability to type, operate a personal computer, and utilize all functions of a client's mainframe computer system.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and constant pressure for absolute accuracy within time limitations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems that can arise throughout the shift.
