Overview

Job Purpose

As an Automation Engineer within the Service Reliability department at Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE: ICE), you will play a critical role in enhancing the reliability and efficiency of our mainframe. Your primary focus will be on developing and maintaining automation tools and solutions that meet our high standards for customer service and incident reduction. You will collaborate closely with the operations and support teams to implement automation changes, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement projects related to our mainframe. Your expertise will help ensure the stability and performance of our infrastructure, enabling our customers to manage risk and make informed decisions globally.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Maintain Tools: Build, deliver, and maintain tools and solutions for our operations platforms to meet customer service standards and reduce incidents.

  • Troubleshooting: Actively troubleshoot issues during validation and production phases.

  • Process Optimization: Update existing processes and design new ones to optimize performance.

  • Customer Collaboration: Work with internal customers to understand their infrastructure automation requirements.

  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in or lead continuous improvement projects driven by automation.

  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with team members to enhance existing projects.

  • Quality Measurement: Create quality measurements to track project improvements.

  • Technical Analysis: Provide technical analysis, resolve problems, and propose solutions in a 24/7 production environment.

  • Documentation: Build and maintain both technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures for break fix.

  • On-Call Rotation: Participate in an on-call rotation as needed.

  • Additional Duties: Perform any other activities as directed by management.

Knowledge and Experience

  • 3+ years of functional MVS systems experience, specifically related to Operating systems and a Sysplex environment.

  • Software Development: Prior experience with software development, infrastructure development, or operations.

  • JCL / JCLCheck: Proficiency in JCL and JCLCheck.

  • Broadcom ESP: Proficiency in Broadcom's ESP product.

  • Server Administration: Strong experience with general system administration (Linux/Unix) with a focus on IBM Mainframe.

  • IBM z/OS: Proficiency with TSO, LIBRARIAN and VSAM utilities.

  • Automation Frameworks: Experience in leveraging automation frameworks.

  • Agile Methods: Experience with Agile methods (Scrum/Kanban) for organizing project deliverables and tracking progress (Jira).

  • Version Control: Experience with Git and/or code repository services (SVN, CVS, BitBucket, GitHub, etc.).

Preferred Knowledge and Experience

  • Scheduling Tools: Experience with Broadcom ESP and general workload management tools for the IBM Mainframe.

  • Technical Operations: Experience in a Technical Operations role and/or Mainframe operations role.
