Job description

The primary responsibility of an Admissions Ambassador is to recruit prospective students to Lipscomb University. Each Ambassador will partner alongside admissions staff members to better communicate to prospective students, to help with processing within the office, to help showcase the campus through campus visits, and to support any other recruitment efforts.

Please email marguerite.smith@lipscomb.edu with an introductory video of yourself within 24 hours of submitting your application. The video should include your intended major, hometown, why you're interested in the position, and why you should be chosen for the position. It should be no longer than 2 minutes. If you are a current Student Ambassador, no video submission is required.

All 2026/2027 Student Ambassadors (with the exception of students on the Quest Team) will be expected to move into their dorms before Freshman Move in on August 10. Mandatory training for Ambassadors will be conducted August 9-16 while on campus to assist for Quest Week events August 11-16. If you have any questions, please email marguerite.smith@lipscomb.edu. There are three types of positions available for next year. Please read each position.
Tour Team
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of an admissions tour guide is to work alongside the admissions team to showcase the Lipscomb University campus. Tour Guides are responsible for representing Lipscomb University – it’s history, opportunities, services, and benefits when hosting or welcoming visitors to campus. Tour Guides are expected to warmly welcome all campus visitors while working to establish a quality first impression.
-Must have good public speaking skills and be knowledgeable of university resources and policies.
Tour guides are expected to be punctual, reliable and conscientious in the performance of all duties.
Tour guide contracts is for one full school year.
Tour guides must undergo extensive training and will be required to attend weekly training and informational meetings.
Tour guides are responsible for serving as the “front door” to the University.
Tour guides should display pride and passion for Lipscomb University while representing themselves and the school in a professional and appropriate manner.
Tour guides will also be responsible for assisting with other admissions hosted events including Lipscomb Friday’s, Accepted Student Events, and any other admission activities.
The Tour Team will be the face of Lipscomb University’s student body. The team will be giving campus tours to prospective students and their families that visit our campus.
Follow-up with each prospective student will be required, and includes, but not limited to: Postcards, emails, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
 
Working Hours:
Your class schedule will be evaluated in accordance with our daily tour schedules. Hiring will be based upon your availability during these times.
 
Contact Team
Responsibilities:
- The Contact Team will actively pursue students who inquire information about Lipscomb University.
- Each team member will play an active role in contacting prospective students through, but not limited to: phone calls, postcards, emails, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Team members will record these contacts in our database system, Slate.
- Each team member will be responsible for making a certain number of calls each week.
- Students will be monitored and rewarded for complete and total contacts.
Working Hours:
Mon, Tues, & Thurs | 4:00 PM — 7:30 PM
- Your main form of communication with the prospective students will be the telephone. Therefore your hours will be during the late afternoon and into early evening (when the prospective students are at home).

Student Recruiter

Responsibilities:
- The primary role of the Student Recruiter is to assist the Admissions Recruiter with administrative needs within the territory. Each Student Recruiter will play an active role in contacting prospective students through, but not limited to: phone calls, postcards, emails, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
- Student Recruiters will be working closely with an Admissions Recruiter to assist in preparing for travel. These tasks may include, but are not limited to: sending out announcements, calling prospective students, preparing and mailing postcards, packing travel bags, answering phones professionally,  etc.
Working Hours:
Mon—Fri (decided upon by recruiter)
- There is room for flexibility on these hours based on the needs of the Admissions Recruiter. You will work with your recruiter to establish a weekly schedule that fits both of your needs.
