Job Summary

The Security Receptionist is responsible for providing a professional, welcoming first point of contact while ensuring the safety and security of employees, visitors, and company property. This role blends customer-focused reception duties with visible security monitoring and administrative support. The position requires strong situational awareness, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm while enforcing access policies. The role supports daily operations by coordinating visitors, monitoring facility activity, and responding appropriately to security or safety incidents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Front Desk Operations & Administrative Support  - Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, visitors, and guests by managing reception desk operations, coordinating visitor access and badging, handling mail and communications, supporting meetings and deliveries, maintaining accurate visitor records, and providing general administrative and customer service support while ensuring a professional and welcoming environment.
  • Security Monitoring & Access Control - Provide a visible security presence at the front desk by monitoring access control systems, surveillance equipment, and visitor activity; enforce corporate security and access policies; prevent unauthorized entry to restricted areas; and maintain situational awareness to ensure the safety of employees, guests, and facilities.
  • Incident Response & Emergency Support  - Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, or suspicious activities in accordance with company procedures; support emergency response activities such as evacuations, medical incidents, and lockdowns; complete incident documentation; and communicate security events to appropriate management and security teams.
  • Reporting, Documentation & Site Coordination - Prepare daily activity and incident reports, document irregularities or security concerns, maintain required logs and records, and coordinate with site leadership, executive assistants, and vendors regarding building access, events, and operational needs.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in security management, military service, law enforcement, or a corporate security/reception environment.
  • Customer Service & Professional Presence: Demonstrates a courteous, professional, and serviceoriented demeanor; serves as a welcoming first point of contact for employees, visitors, and clients; balances security requirements with a positive customer experience.
  • Security Awareness & Situational Judgment: Maintains strong situational awareness; identifies potential security risks or irregularities; exercises sound judgment to prevent unauthorized access; responds appropriately to security concerns and emergencies.
  • Access Control & Technical Proficiency: Demonstrates working knowledge of access control systems, CCTV/surveillance monitoring, visitor management tools, and general office technology; accurately documents activity and maintains required logs and reports.
  • Incident Response & Problem Solving: Remains calm, composed, and decisive in highpressure situations; follows established protocols; responds promptly to incidents or emergencies; documents and reports issues accurately and timely.
  • Administrative Organization & Attention to Detail: Manages multiple tasks and priorities effectively; maintains accurate visitor records, mail processing, and reports; ensures reception and administrative processes are completed accurately and consistently.
Preferred Requirements
  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree. Preferred fields of study: Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Security Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in a corporate, office, or professional services environment.
  • Prior experience combining front desk/reception duties with security responsibilities.
  • Experience working in structured corporate environments with established access and safety policies.
Travel Requirements
  • Domestic travel up to 10%
Physical Requirements
  • Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • This role involves sitting most of the time at a reception desk. Occasional standing, walking, or limited patrols may be required. Visual acuity required for monitoring screens, reading documents, and identifying visitors. Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and via electronic means.
