Job description

Principal Associate, Real Estate Operations & Transaction Management
As a Principal Associate, Real Estate Operations & Transaction Management, you will serve as the operational "Command Center" for the Retail Real Estate Execution team. This role is a unique blend of regulatory compliance, enterprise-wide legal program management, and transaction workflow orchestration. You will be the primary bridge between our team, internal/external Legal counsel, and third-party partners, ensuring that no deal stalls and no compliance requirement is missed.
This is a highly collaborative position with many stakeholders involved internally and externally. You will be joining a dynamic, highly skilled, and forward-thinking commercial real estate team that you will need to complement and challenge. This position will report to a Sr. Manager within the Real Estate department and will interact with senior leadership within the organization.
This role offers a unique "birds-eye view" of the entire Retail Real Estate Execution engine. You will build a massive internal network and gain exposure to the lifecycle of a retail property.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Transaction Workflow Orchestration:Act as the central project manager for the transaction lifecycle, guiding deals from initial intake through broker engagement to final execution. Navigate the internal governance structure, ensuring Finance, Tax, Risk, and Senior Leadership provide required sign-offs to meet deadlines.
  • Legal Engagement Program:Serve as the primary liaison for the Legal Engagement Program supporting the entire Real Estate Execution department. Initiate, track, and close out legal workflows, ensuring internal legal partners have the necessary documentation and business stakeholders receive the results required to drive results.
  • OREO Compliance: Own the execution of quarterly Other Real Estate Owned (OREO) compliance controls, ensuring all documentation and reporting meet strict internal and external audit standards.
  • Portfolio Integrity:Perform change validation and pipeline management to ensure the system of record accurately reflects real-time deal terms and portfolio status.
  • Critical Mail Administration:Oversee the physical and digital mail infrastructure, including the REA Mailbox and Lease Administration mail process for Retail and GWS, ensuring time-sensitive legal notices are routed immediately.
  • Reporting & KPIs: Lead the preparation for Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews (MBR/QBR) and monitor third party performance against established transaction KPIs.
  • Operational Support: Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies within administrative and clerical workflows.

Travel:
  • This role will require minimal travel (less than 10%) to regional offices or sites as needed.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or Military Exeprience
  • At least 4 years of experience in Commercial Real Estate, Real Estate Operations, or Commercial Real Estate Transaction Management
  • At least 3 years of experience in project management
  • At least 2 years of experience in vendor management or performance tracking

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Business Management, or Facilities Management
  • 6+ years of experience in Commercial Real Estate operations
  • Experience with OREO compliance or legal matter tracking

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $108,900 - $124,300 for Pr Assoc, Workplace Services
Richmond, VA: $98,900 - $112,900 for Pr Assoc, Workplace Services
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
