Overview
Nakupuna Consulting is looking for a Mail Security Screener who will be responsible for performing security screening operations in support of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency's (PFPA) force protection mission.
Responsibilities
The following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign additional duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.
  • Receive and inspect incoming United States Postal Service Mail and Commercial Carrier parcels for CBRNE threats
  • Use and maintain a web-based tracking system for parcel accountability
  • Assist security personnel with x-ray operations
  • Conduct explosives and contraband trace detection
  • Open and inspect mail and parcels for CBRNE hazards following established guidelines, directives, and protocols; always display a high level of alertness
  • Communicate critical operational information to administrative personnel
  • Work effectively in a close team environment
  • Collect, package, and annotate biological samples for laboratory analysis
  • Maintain emergency response readiness; respond appropriately during emergency situations
  • Perform moderate to heavy physical exertion while standing and sitting at workstations for extended periods of time; ability to lift large, heavy objects repeatedly
  • Perform assigned cleaning and sanitizing duties (sweeping, mopping, trash removal, etc.)
  • Periodically work extended hours beyond normal business hours
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the management team

Qualifications
Skills/Qualifications: CBRNE and/or HAZMAT knowledge preferred, organizational and planning skills, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and accuracy, solid judgment and decision-making ability, ability to work in a high stress environment, initiative, adaptability. Must have a valid driver's license.
Education/Experience: This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED as well as one (1) year of professional experience. Military, CBRNE, and physical security experience is highly desirable.
Clearance Requirements: This position requires an active Secret security clearance. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Physical Requirements: In addition to the skills and qualifications mentioned above, candidates must, at a minimum, be able to meet the following requirements:
  • Undergo an OSHA Respirator Medical Clearance examination and be determined physically capable of completing job requirements
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including OSHA Level C protective ensembles (compliant with 29 CFR 1910.132) for up to eight hours per day. Working conditions require wearing Level C PPE and respiratory protection in hot and humid conditions (in excess of 78 degrees)
  • Ability to wear a five-pound Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) (compliant with 29 CFR 1910.134), and a tight-fitting facepiece negative pressure respirator (with P100 particulate filters) for extended periods of time while conducting daily operations without risk of respiratory distress due to a prior medical condition
  • This position does not allow employees to have any facial hair that comes between the sealing surface of the tight-fitting facepiece and the face [in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A)] - no exceptions. This will require employees to completely shave facial hair that interferes with tight-fitting respiratory protection
  • Ability to frequently use stairs without assistance as a regular part of daily duties
  • Ability to work in close proximity to x-ray machines
  • Ability to lift and carry 45 pounds for up to 50 yards while wearing PPE; ability to team-lift up to 100 pounds while wearing PPE
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to stretch and reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to use hands to handle or feel, and to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers
  • Ability to talk/hear and engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust
  • Ability to work with common cleaning chemicals, such as bleach, isopropyl alcohol, and glass cleaner

This federal government project is subject to the Service Contract Act (SCA). The hourly rate for this position is determined by the location where work is performed. In addition to hourly pay, positions subject to SCA are entitled to a health and welfare (H&W) payment, which may be adjusted based employee selection of company benefits in lieu of H&W.
The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market rates commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation rate for this position is $24.07 per hour. The hourly rate displayed represents the typical rate for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
