Job Summary


Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Mail Courier picks up and carries packages and other items between Porter-Leath offices and all work sites and other businesses, assists in day-to-day basic repairs and maintenance and operates telephone switchboards to support Receptionist as needed.


Qualifications

  • HSD or GED is required.
  • Minimum 1 year of prior experience within a courier or driver position and a record of safe driving skills.
  • Experience working in non-profit preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not include any supervisory responsibilities.


Essential Job Functions

  1. Collects, sorts and routes incoming mail, determines postage, and properly deliver outgoing mail by ensuring goods are loaded correctly and taking necessary precautions.
  2. Drives to each Porter-Leath work sites safely and timely to deliver incoming mail and pick up outgoing mail from work sites.
  3. Completes errands as assigned using an agency provided vehicle.
  4. Assists in day-to-day basic repairs and preventative maintenance of Porter-Leath facilities, vehicles, equipment using a daily to-do list in a timely manner.
  5. Operates telephone switchboard to answer, screen and forward calls, provide information, take messages and schedule appointments.
  6. Monitors indoor and outdoor areas daily for debris and refuse, performs light outdoor landscaping services as needed (cutting/edging grass, raking leaves and collecting branches). Checks all dumpsters daily to insure trash is in dumpster. Completes general housekeeping duties in support of or in the absence of Housekeeper.
  7. Locks all gates at the main campus, secures Administration building, and sets alarm at the end of each day.
  8. Assists Supervisor on special projects as needed, such as room setup for meetings.
  9. Assures safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, City, State and Federal guidelines.
  10. Contributes to team effort by performing other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic maintenance functions and techniques and working knowledge of maintenance equipment including basic tools, lawn equipment and housekeeping tools.
  • Record keeping/writing skills to maintain accurate, up-to-date maintenance logs/documentation so that information is readily researched and retrieved.
  • Organizational skills to determine workload priorities and complete a variety of tasks comprising a heavy workload in a timely manner and to plan/follow the most efficient routes for delivery.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and ability to effectively manage workload with planning.
  • Ability to exhibit initiative in reporting maintenance concerns to Supervisor.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work as a team player and interact/assist all employees as necessary.

Physical Demands


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15-25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and color vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work in a non-smoking area.
