Job description

Position Summary

As a Retail Sales Associate, you’ll be the face of The UPS Store, delivering world-class customer services to all of our customers. You’ll assist customers with shipping, packing, printing, and business services, all while ensuring a clean and welcoming environment. You’ll learn all aspects of store operations and play a key role in keeping our customers coming back. The Associate expertly advises our valued customers by providing accurate information on our array of products, services, and best-value options and exhibits confidence by knowing best practices related to the industry. 


The ideal candidate has previous retail sales experience, strong computer and internet skills, a high school diploma or GED, a friendly and genuinely helpful demeanor, and a professional appearance. He or she must be a fast learner, a flexible & quick thinker, a team player and has great work ethics with an “no job is too small attitude”.


Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

  • Deliver exceptional service by greeting customers, assessing needs, and providing tailored solutions through being knowledgeable of products and services offered 
  • Promote and cross-sell products and services to enhance customer experience
  • Handle inquiries, resolve issues, and maintain strong communication with customers and team members

Shipping, Packaging & Mail Handling

  • Receive, process, and pack shipments and returns using established procedures
  • Process returns and corporate accounts using established procedures
  • Sort and distribute mail and packages accurately to customer mailboxes

Operations & Transactions

  • Accurately process sales using POS systems, including cash and card transactions
  • Perform beginning-of-day activities or end-of-day reconciliation of all payment types in compliance with procedures
  • Operate shipping and business software systems efficiently
  • Operate office equipment (copiers, printers, fax, laminating) safely and effectively
  • Assist with document preparation and basic print/graphic tasks as needed

Store Maintenance & Inventory

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe store environment
  • Stock shelves, monitor inventory, and support merchandising efforts

Team Contribution & Development

  • Stay informed on products, services, and industry trends
  • Support team members, share knowledge, and perform additional duties as needed


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • Previous Retail or customer service experience is a must
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including spelling and math
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe suites is recommended
  • Proficiency with POS systems, retail math, and cash handling
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, organized and a quick learner
  • Ability to lift 40–50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Have a helpful, friendly attitude and strong people skills
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain harmonious relationships with customers in person and over the phone.
  • Available to work either on 1) Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday mornings (8:30 am - 1:30 pm) or 2) Monday afternoons (1:30 - 6:30 pm) and Saturday (9-5) and Sunday (11-4)
