Job description

SUMMARY
At Magnolia, the Line Cook is responsible for preparing food to Magnolia specifications and quality expectations. This position plays a key role in contributing to guest satisfaction by following recipes and cooking food that meets Magnolia's high standards. This position works from Magnolia Table in Waco, Texas. It reports to the Assistant Kitchen Manager and has no supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work as a team player and prepare high-quality food orders in a timely and efficient manner*
  • Possess a through working understanding of all recipes, restaurant standards, and visual standards for each product*
  • Ensure adherence to Magnolia recipes*
  • Carry out instructions of kitchen management
  • Operate equipment safely and in line with best-use practices for each piece of equipment
  • Check with management any time quality of products is in question
  • Anticipate guest needs and provide exceptional guest service
  • Communicate with management regarding status of products, quality control issues, problems with equipment, or unusual conditions; adhering to established loss prevention and inventory control procedures
  • Ensure stations are stocked throughout shift and assist in prep when necessary
  • Evaluate and modify processes in order to improve efficiency and quality of service
  • Handle, prepare, and store food in ways that prevent foodborne illnesses and ensure compliance with all food safety standards*
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment *
  • Perform other duties as assigned

ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • 0-1 years of related work experience preferred
  • Food Handler's license required upon hire
  • Must be available to work weekends, nights, special events, and holidays as business needs require

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and arms to reach, handle, feel; utilize fine motor dexterity of fingers; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is expected to utilize team lifting techniques when lifting bulky items or items weighing above 50 pounds and up to 120 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee operates in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This role routinely uses sinks, dishwashers, and tools to clean kitchen appliances. The employee is frequently exposed to hot water, potentially slippery floors, garbage disposals, and cleaning chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is intermittent sounds at a level sufficient to cause hearing loss or fatigue. The employee is subject to high temperatures and low temperatures. The employee is exposed to workplace hazards.
