Groundskeeper – Maderas Golf Club

Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

The Groundskeepers perform a diverse range of activities involved in golf course maintenance and construction. They also perform semi-skilled ground construction, maintenance work, and caping tasks using power equipment and hand tools.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs general landscape maintenance using handheld equipment.
  • Rakes and maintains sand bunkers.
  • Operates small machinery to assist with edging, trimming and mowing.
  • Prepares soil beds for sod, seed and vegetative material.
  • Involved with tasks related to course detail (weed and debris clean up).
  • Assists with golf course set-up procedures.
  • Operates utility vehicles for hauling material and removing debris.
  • Performs skilled duties related to experience (pruning, plugging, etc.).
  • Operates equipment safely and is aware of associates and their prospective work areas.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Drive and maneuver golf carts safely.
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in groundskeeping or landscaping, particularly in a golf course or park setting.
  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level necessary to safely and effectively perform the essential functions of the job, including following oral and written instructions, reading safety information, and completing required documentation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to perform all essential functions of the job description.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to operate various types of power equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipment.
  • Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping.
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments.
  • Extensive knowledge of landscaping techniques and processes.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Previous experience preferred.
  • On-the-job training offered.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently stands, walks, sits; uses hands; frequently reaches with hands and arms; frequently talks and hears.
  • Occasionally climbs or balances; occasionally stoops, kneels, crouches, squats or crawls; occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to traverse various athletic grounds and facilities.

Environment/Noise:

  • Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
  • Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Noise level is loud.
