Job description

We are seeking an energetic, relationship-focused Director of Golf Instruction to lead and grow our golf instruction programs while delivering an exceptional experience for members and guests. This individual will be responsible for promoting and conducting private lessons, group instruction, junior and adult clinics, PGA Junior League programming, player development initiatives, and other instructional activities that enhance engagement and grow participation in the game. The Director of Golf Instruction will play a key role in developing golfers of all skill levels, supporting the golf operation, mentoring instructional staff, and contributing to the overall success of the Club through innovative programming, member engagement, and revenue generation. The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching, enjoys building lasting relationships with members, and brings a creative, member-first approach to growing the game of golf.
Pay: Salary + Lessons percentage.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Promote and grow golf instruction programs, including private lessons, group lessons, junior and adult clinics, player development programs, and PGA Junior League.
  • Provide high-quality golf instruction to members and guests through individual and group lessons.
  • Support instructional components of tournaments, events, and special golf activities.
  • Develop and maintain year-round instructional programming, including winter golf lessons utilizing the Club's golf simulator facility.
  • Educate, mentor, and assist in the development of certified assistants and instructional staff.
  • Assist with training and ongoing development of golf operations and instructional team members.
  • Develop and implement creative marketing initiatives to increase participation in instructional programs and generate additional revenue for the Club.
  • Collaborate with Club leadership and staff to promote golf programming and enhance member engagement.
  • Serve as a Club ambassador by building strong relationships with members, guests, and prospective members while fostering a welcoming and inclusive golf environment.
  • Assist with golf shop operations and provide golf shop coverage as needed during periods of limited staffing.
  • Maintain a professional, service-oriented presence and contribute positively to the overall member experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • PGA Professional in good standing preferred.
  • Proven experience teaching golfers of varying ages and skill levels.
  • Strong knowledge of player development programs and junior golf instruction.
  • Experience conducting clinics, camps, leagues, and instructional events.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with members, guests, staff, and Club leadership.
  • Passion for growing the game of golf, mentoring others, and creating exceptional member experiences.

Hiwan Golf Club is a private golf and country club located in Evergreen, Colorado, USA.Just twenty-five miles west of downtown Denver, off of Interstate Highway 70, you will find us in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains situated at an elevation of 7,665 feet (2,336 meters), which places us almost half a mile higher than Zermatt, Switzerland.Despite our lofty location, we offer our members challenging emerald green fairways each summer with stunning mountain vistas. Our prime golf season extends from April to October, although Hiwan members have played the course in every month of the year.Hiwan Golf Club was founded in 1962 and has a rich history of golf tradition. Most of the biggest names of golf have played this course, and we hosted the USGA Girls’ Junior in 1965 and the USGA Junior Amateur for boys in 1976. We founded the Colorado Open in 1964 and hosted the tournament until 1991. In 2011, we hosted the prestigious Junior America's Cup.In addition to our famed course, we offer an array of amenities including a family-friendly, resort-style pool, fitness center, library, 5 tennis courts, 3 pickleball courts, and a golf simulator. While tee times are not available for non-members except as the guest of a Hiwan member, we encourage you to support one of the many charitable golf events held on Mondays from May to October. Banquet and special-event catering services, however, are available to non-members.
