We are seeking a skilled and motivated Controls Engineer to join our team at Gotion's state-of-the-art facility in Manteno, IL. The Controls Engineer will play a critical role in supporting and optimizing the Pack/Module pilot production line by ensuring high standards of process stability, quality, and efficiency. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes and equipment.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee day-to-day manufacturing engineering activities, ensuring stable processes that meet or exceed target yield, capabilities, throughput, and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
  • Collaborate with Quality and cross-functional teams to establish robust control plans and in-process quality checks.
  • Lead efforts in equipment and line qualification during initial process ramp-up and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize advanced problem-solving and root cause analysis techniques, leveraging quality and statistical tools to address manufacturing challenges.
  • Dvelop and maintain critical process documentation, including Work Instructions (WI) and Operation Instructions (OI), and provide training to production employees.
  • Apply methodologies such as Design of Experiments (DOE), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and lessons learned to enhance manufacturing processes.
  • Support the integration of automation and controls systems, including PLC programming, HMI design, and the implementation of Industry 4.0 solutions.
  • Partner with maintenance teams to ensure equipment uptime, troubleshoot electrical and control system issues, and recommend improvements.
Requirements:
  • Education:
    • BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, with a strong focus on control systems and automation.
    • Hands-on experience with Cell assembly processes is highly preferred.
    • Knowledge of laser welding processes is a plus.
    • Proficiency in PLC programming, Siemens 1500 prefer, HMI development, and SCADA systems.
    • Familiarity with robotics, machine vision, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, ProfiNet).

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $80,000 -$120,000, plus eligibility for bonus and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by factors such as the role, level, and geographic location. Actual compensation within the range will be influenced by the specific work location, along with factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
