We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Systems Developer to join our team in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Manufacturing Systems Developer is responsible for driving the digital transformation of the Quality Assurance function by evaluating, improving, and modernizing current processes and systems. This role will begin by working within existing manual workflows related to material documentation and submittals across vendors, purchasers, and customers for large-scale projects. Through this hands-on experience, the position will develop a deep understanding of current challenges in areas such as shop-floor document tracking, compliance reporting, and production documentation. Leveraging these insights, the role will lead the development or implementation of digital solutions—either through custom tools or existing market platforms—to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability within Quality Assurance operations. This role requires a high level of independence.

Taks and responsiblities:

Safety:

  • Comply with and enforces all Nortrak safety policies and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain reliable applications that support safe manufacturing operations and minimize system-related risks.
  • Ensure systems follow secure coding practices and align with network security protocols.
  • Maintain stable and secure cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure) to prevent operational disruptions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure systems support safe equipment integration.

Quality:

  • Develop and maintain a custom QA management system using ASP.NET and C#, incorporating project management functionality to track documented inspections, tasks, and quality metrics.
  • Manage material documentation and customer submittals in compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Administer SharePoint for quality manuals, SOPs, and document control, ensuring strict version control and access permissions.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and applications to enable consistent data accuracy across systems.
  • Ensure high code quality through testing, validation, and documentation best practices.
  • Support compliance initiatives (e.g., ISO 9001) through digital solutions and process improvements.

On-Time Delivery:

  • Build and enhance manufacturing control systems that support real-time operations and production continuity.
  • Develop SQL-based ETL processes to integrate ERP data into QA and production tools for real-time visibility.
  • Design and deploy applications that improve workflow efficiency and reduce delays in manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate in Agile teams to deliver iterative solutions on schedule.
  • Maintain high system uptime and responsiveness through optimized deployments and monitoring.

Cost:

  • Optimize database performance (SQL Server/MySQL) and system efficiency to reduce operational costs.
  • Develop scalable cloud solutions on AWS and Azure to ensure cost-effective infrastructure usage.
  • Streamline manual processes through automation and system integrations to reduce labor inefficiencies.
  • Improve resource utilization through data-driven insights and system enhancements.

People:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, QA, operations, IT) to deliver effective solutions.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in Agile development practices, including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and innovation.
  • Support users through training, documentation, and ongoing system improvements.

ENVIRONMENTAL:

  • Support digital transformation initiatives that reduce reliance on paper-based processes through SharePoint and digital workflows.
  • Develop efficient systems that optimize resource usage and reduce waste in manufacturing processes.
  • Leverage cloud technologies to improve energy-efficient computing and system scalability.
  • Design and implement Power BI dashboards to track, analyze, and communicate key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Adhere to Nortrak's Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies.

Other duties as assigned.

  • Experience building Power BI dashboards, including scorecards, KPI tracking, and trend analysis reporting
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Git, or similar version control and CI/CD tools
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001) is highly desirable
  • Experience with SAP system is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience integrating systems using RESTful APIs to connect QA tools with enterprise applications.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
