Job description

HMC Gears is growing, and we are looking for an experienced CNC Machinists like you! Founded over 100 years ago, HMC is an international contender in the large gear manufacturing industry, complete with the most cutting edge CNC machine technology in the world that allows us to manufacture gearing up to 8 meters in diameter.Our invaluable CNC Machinists work with the most advanced technology to cut chips for some of the largest gears in the world. As a custom job shop, every day brings a diverse set of challenges and successes.


Responsibilities for our CNC Machinists include, but are not limited to:

  • Machine Setups
  • Programming on Machine Tools
  • Adjusting and reprogramming controls
  • Operate large CNC mills and lathes
  • Maintaining specifications, tolerances, and quality requirements when performing drilling, grooving, and cutting, turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing
  • Troubleshooting programming and process errors
  • Perform preventative maintenance for assigned machines
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers
  • Follow work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters, and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
  • Maintain specifications, tolerances, and quality requirements when performing drilling, grooving, and cutting, turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing, measurements, interpreting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls, replacing worn tools; sharpening tools, and adhering to quality requirements, procedures, and processes

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or Higher in CNC Machining; or
  • Three years of directly-related CNC machine work experience


Position Requirements

  • CNC Machining experience
  • Ability to basic math functions
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend G and M code
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Detail-oriented


This position can be exposed to heat, cold, fumes or airborne particles, debris such as metal shavings, loud noise, vibration and moving mechanical parts. Protective gear such as earplugs, safety glasses, steel toe footwear, and gloves are required.
The physical demands of this position include vision, hearing, manual dexterity, standing or walking for long periods, reaching, bending, lifting and carrying up to 50lbs, climbing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
