Job Title: Machine Tech

Reporting To: General Manager - Factory Operations
Location: Hollidaysburg, PA

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for ensuring that a variety of industrial equipment, such as machines and manufacturing tools, is kept clean and working efficiently. The Machine Tech (“Tech”) must be able to make timely decisions while under pressure and can multi-task in an environment where several tasks must be completed simultaneously.

The Tech will perform set-up, adjustments, and repairs to the production equipment and other duties as assigned. They will check all machine guards and ensure safety mechanisms are in place and effective. Tech is responsible for machines running correctly and efficiently and ensuring the product meets job requirements. Tech will inspect quality during all phases of production.

Please note that the facility can get warm in the summer and cool in winter. The manufacturing floor is noisy and loud due to running machinery. Manufacturing machinery is made up of moving parts and can be dangerous if proper operation and safety procedures are not followed.


Principal Responsibilities:

  • Set up multiple machines for operation.
  • Maintain and repair machines including disassembly and re-assembly, inspection, preventative maintenance, and detection of damage.
  • Make necessary adjustments, inspect product, machine speed, minimize down time.
  • Works closely with the production team to meet production and quality goals.
  • Assists Machine Operator in maintaining quality control and production requirements.
  • Communicate with shift supervisor and/or machine operators of potential issues that could affect product quality and/or safety including equipment and product issues.
  • Takes responsibility and initiative to ensure own safety and the safety of others.
  • Follows all safety procedures; uses protective equipment as needed or required.
  • Keep the work area neat and orderly.
  • Identify, correct, or report safety hazards in the facility.
  • Ensure that all machine guards are in place prior to operating machinery.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED
  • Previous set-up and adjusting experience in a manufacturing production environment is preferred but not required.
  • Mechanical skills: experience with setup, repairing and running machinery with precision moving parts.
  • Must have the ability to use hand tools, and work with solvents.
  • Able to read a pair of micrometers
  • Mathematical skills: converting measurements between standard, metric, and fractions.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Fluency in English (both written and verbal).
