Job description

Job Summary:

Working from given instructions, will load programs into the controller, review the program and do intermediate setup of machine tools through first piece inspection approval.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for manufacturing complex parts and machine maintenance.
  • Able to control product quality during production runs using calipers, dial bore gages, micrometers, etc.
  • Measure and work with tight tolerance in accordance with control plan and blueprint.
  • Good working knowledge of proper machine operation and safety.
  • Manufacture product with tight tolerance in accordance with CAD models and blueprints.
  • May work with prototypes for potential future work.
  • Must be able to develop and machine basic fixtures with or without prints.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized.
  • Must be able to change tools and offsets.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • When requested, may work on special projects and various related assignments.
  • May be required to edit programs at machine.
  • May be requested to instruct other personnel on the machine operation.
  • May be required to work in various areas of operations when necessary.
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a machine shop environment.
  • Knowledgeable on set-ups, lathes and mills.
  • Understand GD&T and shop math.
  • Ability to read and understand cad-cam software.
  • Familiar with G and M codes.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must be a good team player.
