Description

Position Summary

The CNC Supervisor is responsible for driving advanced process optimization across CNC machining operations, with a primary focus on reducing cycle times, improving productivity, and ensuring robust, repeatable processes. This role also leads the development of process flows and manufacturing strategies for new work, from concept through full production release. The engineer will serve as a technical expert, mentor, and key contributor to continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads efforts to analyze, optimize, and standardize CNC machining processes to reduce cycle times, improve throughput, and increase machine utilization.
  • Develops and implements advanced machining strategies, optimized toolpaths, and cutting parameters using modern CNC programming software.
  • Designs and documents end-to-end manufacturing process flows for new parts, including routing, workflows, setup strategies, tooling selection, and inspection plans.
  • Evaluates and selects tooling, fixturing, work holding systems, and automation solutions to support efficient and scalable production.
  • Conducts complex time studies, capability analyses, cost-reduction reviews, and root-cause investigations to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates closely with machinists, programmers, quality engineers, and production management to troubleshoot issues and validate processes on the shop floor.
  • Champion the introduction of new tooling technologies, machining techniques, and industry best practices.
  • Leads NPI (New Product Introduction) activities for CNC-machined components, ensuring manufacturability, repeatability, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Develops and maintains high-quality documentation, including standard operating procedures, setup instructions, process control plans, and PFMEAs.
  • Fixturing design concepts.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Requirements

 Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field; or equivalent technical experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in CNC machining, Mastercam programming, or manufacturing engineering.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Mastery of CNC programming(G-Code) and CAM tools.
  • Expert-level knowledge of machining fundamentals, cutting tool technologies, feeds and speeds, and GD&T.
  • Proven track record of reducing cycle times and improving machining efficiency in a production environment.
  • Experience designing complete manufacturing workflows and process flows for new parts.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience in high-precision or regulated industries such as aerospace, medical device, or automotive preferred.
  • Knowledge of automation systems, in-process probing, and advanced metrology preferred.
  • Ability to use data analytics tools to drive process insights and improvements preferred.
