Job Description

Erland Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support Project Managers and project teams throughout all phases of construction. This role is ideal for someone with a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field who is looking to grow their career in commercial construction.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews design documents and shop drawings/submittals for consistency with contract scope of work
  • Reads and understands project drawings and specs
  • Produces and distributes document tracking and status reports using Prolog Manager Software
  • Develops and implements submittal and shop drawing schedule as required to maintain master project schedule
  • Reviews shop drawings, product data, and samples for conformity with Contract Documents and proper dimensional control
  • Processes shop drawings and submittals for required approvals by Architect and Engineers
  • Purchases materials and engages subcontractors for assigned trades
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of subcontract scopes of work
  • Develops project material delivery schedule as required to maintain master project schedule
  • Produces, tracks, and distributes material delivery status reports
  • Expedites submittals, shop drawings, samples, mock-ups, and delivery of materials
  • Solicits subcontractor pricing of changes and helps confirm their accuracy
  • Assembles change order requests to the Owner for review by Project Manager
  • Sets up and oversees change order status and tracking system
  • Attends project meetings and records/distributes meeting notes
  • Coordinates project close-out effort
  • Expedites and obtains all record documents and helps assemble Owner’s Manuals
  • Pursues individual training and goals set at performance review
  • Promotes business development by projecting a positive image of Erland during interactions with employees, clients, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Nurtures relationships with clients and maintains contact after the project has closed

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent education/experience
  • 2–3 years of relevant construction/project management experience a plus
  • Residential construction experience a plus
  • Full-time or Co-op experience in the responsibilities described is a plus, but not an absolute requirement
  • Strong desire to learn from others and a willingness to participate in in-house, on-the-job, and other training to be successful
  • Must be computer literate and experience with related in-house programs (Procore, Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, etc.) preferred
  • Experience using CAD a plus
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, staff, vendors, and others
  • Strong organization skills, able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to project a positive image of the company at all times

Salary Range

The anticipated base salary for the Assistant Project Manager role is $85,000 - $115,000. Please note that base pay is only one part of Erland’s total compensation package. Your actual salary will be determined by your unique skills, experience, education, and specific qualifications. Because we stay competitive, our ranges are reviewed regularly against market trends and may vary by geographic location.
