Machine Operator

Job Description

The Machine Operator will be responsible for interpreting blueprints and setting up and operating multiple equipment and machinery. This role involves programming machine controls to produce quality parts, training fellow workers while exhibiting leadership skills, and inspecting parts to ensure quality standards are met. Additionally, the Machine Operator will operate cranes and pallet trucks and inspire fellow employees to adapt to 5S/Lean Manufacturing practices.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints accurately.
  • Set up and operate various equipment and machinery.
  • Program machine controls to produce quality parts.
  • Train fellow workers and demonstrate leadership skills.
  • Inspect parts to ensure quality standards.
  • Operate cranes and pallet trucks safely.
  • Encourage adaptation of 5S/Lean Manufacturing among team members.
  • Follow production scheduling to meet goals.
  • Work efficiently and effectively on diversified tasks.
  • Maintain neat and organized work area.
  • Perform quality work consistently.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Essential Skills

  • 4-7 years of experience in a machine shop and metal fabrication environment.
  • Proficiency in Mig Welding, Blueprint reading, and Fabrication.
  • Thorough knowledge and operating experience with lathes, milling machines, brake presses, shears, iron workers, metal cutting saws, grinding, and hand fabrication tools.
  • Ability to understand and work from engineering drawings, rough sketches, manuals, or verbal instructions.
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Self-starting and ability to work independently.
  • Capability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • Basic understanding of computers.
  • Ability to do repetitive work.
