Job Description

The Extraction Tech I position is responsible for assisting in the extraction lab where the company produces concentrated marijuana products. The lab is a multi-faceted environment, and the technician will be responsible for a multitude of tasks such as: formulating marijuana concentrates, preparing and filling concentrates for packaging, preparing materials for extraction process, and general cleaning and maintenance.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carries out routine tasks accurately and strictly following SOP’s.
  • Follows and ensures strict safety procedures and safety checks.
  • Prepares marijuana biomass for extraction.
  • Loads and unloads extraction machines.
  • Formulates marijuana concentrates.
  • Performs filling and packaging processes and procedures.
  • Records processing data.
  • Follows cleaning schedule/regimen.
  • Ensures all workspaces are well-stocked and resourced.
  • Keeps laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock and notifying supervisors if orders are needed.
  • Maintains supplies by picking up, cleaning, washing, sterilizing, inventorying, and distributing.
  • Keeps filling and packaging equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshoots breakdowns; maintains supplies; informs supervisors of the need for, and assists with, repairs.
  • Assists and contributes to the continued development of changing internal processes for the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Experience/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Must be able to obtain a state medical marijuana badge and pass a background check
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment and software including word processing, data base management (BioTrack, Metrc, etc.), spreadsheet applications and electronic mail.
  • Be able to resolve problems by examining and evaluating data and selecting corrective steps.
  • Must have strong communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats.
  • Should have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and management, and to approach conflict or disagreement constructively.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to understand and work within the strict confines of the laws set forth by the state with regard to its legal medical program.
  • Understanding of the variety of tasks required in working in a lab or manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to work independently, manage projects and meet deadlines.


Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a regulated industry is preferred, but not mandatory.


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • Lifting, standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, push/pull, repetitive use of hands, grasping use of hands, visual activity
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals and gases.
