Job description

The Machine Operator is responsible for performing tasks to operate, monitor, and perform limited preventive maintenance on assigned machines. The Machine Operator will also be responsible for inspecting parts to specifications and adjusting, or tool changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications.

Expectations:

The Machine Operator is expected to embody the Five Star Carbide standards with respect to discipline, quality, punctuality, and safety, and to enforce those standards.

The Machine Operator is expected to communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials.

The Machine Operator is expected to comply with all safety and health regulations.

The Machine Operator should have the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.

Responsibilities:

The Machine Operator operates production CNC grinders in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. The Machine Operator will adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and supervisor guidance and in a timely fashion.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Operate/monitor multiple pieces of equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops
  • Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery.
  • Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on multiple pieces of equipment
  • Troubleshoot issues and perform maintenance and clean machinery and maintain cleanliness in work area
  • Perform quality control, follow reporting and recordkeeping procedures, and report problems to supervisor
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

This role is on a 4-day, 10 hour schedule, Monday - Thursday. various shifts needed.
