Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Operate various machines within the cell
  • Makes minor adjustments as necessary or notify Lead person or Set up person if a more significant adjustment is required
  • Maintains a clean machine and organized work area
  • Performs preventative maintenance including lubricating machines when needed
  • Makes minor repairs and notifies maintenance for other maintenance needs
  • Performs a variety of tasks such as counting, cleaning, returning gauges and fixtures, and transferring of parts
  • Use measuring equipment to maintain close tolerances
  • Follows schedules and procedures
  • Adaptable to cell and team concepts as well as cross-training
  • Sees that all safety guards are in place and in good condition
  • Assists other operators if necessary
  • Inspects work in progress, using equipment necessary and outlined in Quality or Work Instructions
  • Responsible for quality of own work
  • Forklift (i.e., powered industrial truck) operation
  • All other duties as assigned

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
  • Must be proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specification sheets, and / or mechanical drawings and in precision measurement or become proficient through training
  • Computer literacy
  • Capable of using measuring instruments, i.e., micrometer, calipers, height gauge, etc.
  • Capable of using hand tools (i.e., screwdriver, wrenches, etc.)
  • Ability to read and write, perform basic arithmetic and follow verbal and written instructions.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience operating production machinery in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
