POSITION SUMMARY
The Machine Operator will be responsible for the operation of the ceramic fiber electric furnace and related equipment in accordance with safety guidelines, operating procedures, quality specifications, production schedules and company policies.
JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Operate and assist in the operation of one or two ceramic fiber electric furnaces and all related production line and related equipment.
  • Direct the work of the production personnel performing the batching, inspection, and packing.
  • Supervise the production line area and make sure all items to run production are available and needs are communicated to Manager as needed.
  • Request assistance of the maintenance services group whenever a non-standard machine condition or machine error/failure is observed.
  • Responsible for keeping furnace filled with raw material at adequate levels.
  • Keep furnace condition within the good efficiency range by adjusting power, components, feeding and tap rate.
  • Ensure the melt pool is under control, avoiding melt eruption and/or breakthrough of walls or bottom plate.
  • Observe blankets/fibers being formed and make necessary adjustments to ensure products meet specifications according to the product specification.
  • Make minor mechanical adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve line issue quickly.
  • Record operating data periodically from the control stations and other related instruments.
  • Maintain your equipment in running condition to include clean and operating properly.
  • Report production to DSI scanner or other related equipment accurately
  • Write and submit Maintenance Work Orders into the E1 (ERP) system.
  • Complete Take-5 Risk assessment at the beginning of each shift.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Maintain good relations within the unit.
  • Comply with Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • GED/High School Diploma required. Associate degree or Technical Certificate desired.
  • Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience required, with at least 6 months of experience operating machinery.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Ability to utilize computer software for data reporting, product certification and printing labels.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Understanding and knowledge of reading basic measuring devices such as a tape measure.
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Be able to preform quality related test and enter into ERP system (E1)

SCHEDULE DESCRIPTION
The typical schedule for this position is a rotating 12-hour shift schedule. Must be willing to work overtime, holidays and weekends as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position will work primarily on the production floor.
  • The noise level in the work environment is consistently above 85 decibels when on the production floor and wear hearing protection 100% of the time on work floor.
  • During summer months, employee may have to work in temperatures as high as 110 degrees for prolonged periods of time.
  • Dust from machine processes is constantly present.
  • The employee constantly works near rotating equipment, mechanical parts, and lift trucks.
  • Required to wear steel toed shoes, safety glasses and ear plugs in the manufacturing area. Respirators may be required in specific areas of the plant.
  • Ability to maneuver around equipment and on various platforms within the production area.
  • Ability to climb stairs and inspect process equipment.
