JOB CLASSIFICATION

POSITION REPORTS TO:

Hudson Plant Supervisor

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating a set of raschel knitting machines and knit roll weigh station.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Regular and predictable attendance

Knit Machine Operator:

  • Operates a set of raschel knitting machines.
  • Patrols machines to ensure excellent quality.
  • Repairs yarn breaks.
  • Maintains a clean work area and observes all safety rules and procedures.
  • Responsible for documenting production, quality, and safety.
  • Takes sample cuts as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required or directed.

Knit Roll Weigh Station:

  • Place roll of split fabric on scale to verify weight and generate packing label to be placed on knit roll.
  • Place plastic bag on roll to prepare for shipping.
  • Use electric peg lift to move roll into designated storage bin.
  • Notify immediate supervisor of identified knit roll weight issues.
  • Performs other related duties as required or directed.
  • Maintains a clean work area and observes all safety rules and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as required or directed. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to operate motorized equipment
  • Physical requirements: lift 25lbs, push 250lbs roll of fabric on cart, pull 50lbs, work (3) 12 hour shifts with extensive standing and walking.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Textile knitting experience

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent hand/eye coordination
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Adaptability – adapts to changes in the work environment
  • Attention to detail – thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task ensuring all aspects are reviewed
  • Ability to identify and classify defects
  • Willing to work overtime
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
