Summary:

The General Machine Operator is responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining sheet metal fabrication equipment to produce high‑quality components according to engineering drawings and production requirements. This role supports manufacturing by ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient operation of machines used to cut, bend, form, and assemble sheet metal parts. This is a full-time role based out of our facility in Vaughan, ON.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide general support in the metal shop.
  • Operate machinery such as brakes & presses, spot welding and stand off insertion machines.
  • Load required tooling into the machine.
  • Produce and verify product piece to the drawing specs and identify it as “first off”
  • Perform maintenance as per outlined requirements.
  • Assemble and fit plates and sections to form structures.
  • Spot weld metal machine parts together.
  • Set up and operate heavy-duty sheet metal working machines.
  • Stock shelves and move materials to different machines using a forklift as required.
  • Unload sheet metal skids when delivered and store it accordingly.
  • Prepare all metal items for painting.
  • Follow Supervisor/Team Lead instructions.
Requirements and Skills:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous 1 to 3 years experience in a metal shop environment.
  • Previous experience to spot welding, punch press and brake press, stand off and PEM inserter would be preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and good understanding of fabrication processes.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Must be able to frequently lift 30lbs and up to 50lbs occasionally.
  • Able to work in a noisy shop environment.
  • Counterbalance forklift certification required, with minimum 6 months experience.
  • Must have steel-toed safety boots.
