Machine Operator Assistant

Job Summary:

The Feeder Operatorassists the Press Operatorinsetting up and operation of Press equipment to customer-supplied specifications while maintaining production by planning and organizing jobsand continuouslymonitoring quality. The Operator works with press crew to ensure safety, production quality and training standards are met and maintained.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Monitors signature quality by assisting in setting and monitoring color by following Sheridan's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for quality.
  • Assists in maintaining register, fold, and compensation, identifying and correcting issues.
  • Assists in setting up/operating equipment by setting up press computers, units, folders, andauxiliary equipment and performing preventative maintenance.
  • Assists in webbing up press.
  • Responsible for cleanliness and assisting in keeping press mechanically maintained.
  • Performs other duties associated with safety, quality, and production.
  • Trains employees as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Able to accurately read and follow Standard Operating Procedures and job information
  • Able to accurately identify color and press defects on product
  • Able to match the product to the sample from the customer
  • Able to utilize the computer to ensure quality of product
  • Excellent troubleshooting, interpersonal and communication skills

Desired Skills and Abilities

  • Prior experience working as a Press Tender or Press Assistant
  • Computer and mechanical aptitude

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis
  • Must be able to stand/work for the duration of an 8-10 hour shift with overtime hours scheduled and worked as needed
