Learning and Development (L&D) Intern and gain hands-on experience supporting impactful training programs and employee development initiatives across the Town of Erie.
In this role, you'll work alongside our Organizational Development Manager to gain valuable exposure to the day-to-day operations of Learning and Development. You'll have opportunities to:
- Coordinate training programs and learning events
- Support training communications and logistics
- Assist with learning management system administration
- Help evaluate training effectiveness and learner feedback
- Contribute to the development of training content and resources
As part of your internship experience, you'll also have the opportunity to facilitate a dedicated section of our new manager training program. With coaching, feedback, and support from the team, you'll develop confidence in public speaking, learner engagement, and training delivery while making a meaningful contribution to the growth and success of our employees.

Work Hours: Part-time;(Monday-Friday shifts) 15-20 hours per week
- Estimated start date of July 27, 2026, for 260 total working hours.
- Schedule may vary depending on scheduled tasks and various events within the Town of Erie Human Resources Department
Primary Work Location: Erie Town Hall (645 Holbrook Street in Erie, CO)
- Telework options available with supervisor approval, with onsite work required based on supervisor needs, regularly scheduled meetings and Town events.
- This position may require your attendance at other Town facilities.
Pay Range Information Hiring Range:
$22.00/hr - $25.00/hr

Duties And Responsibilities: Training Coordination, Communication, and Logistics
- Assist with training communications, including monthly training updates and upcoming session announcements
- Assist with scheduling training sessions including booking rooms, scheduling guest facilitators, and sending calendar invites
- Assist with room setup, lunch ordering, and onsite training logistics
- Assist with recording vendor training sessions when applicable
- Follow up with participants regarding training prework requirements
- Track attendance and mark training completions in Paycom Learning
- Assist with ordering training materials and preparing course materials
Learning Management System (LMS) and Administrative Support
- Run LMS reports and respond to general L&D inquiries
- Update training records and manually mark course completions when necessary
- Maintain and update organizational training resources (Insight team wheels and SharePoint content)
- Support post-training administration, including marking attendance and tracking completion
Training and Development Program Evaluation
- Create and distribute Microsoft Forms for 360 evaluations and post-learning evaluations
- Monitor evaluation responses and support follow-up communication
Content and Program Support
- Assist with redesign and updates to the L&D SharePoint site
- Support development of e-learning content depending on experience and interest
- Provide general program support to ensure smooth delivery of learning initiatives
Senior Staff Leadership Exposure
- Attend one senior staff weekly meeting to give an update on a topic or project that Learning and Development is working on.
- Attend one Council meeting to gain exposure how local government works
Minimum Qualifications: - High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
- One year of administrative and/or customer service experience in general customer service, business, HR or a related field.
- Pursuit of a degree in Organizational Development, Organizational Psychology, Organizational Leadership, Adult Learning, Training and Development, Instructional Design, or Human Resources will substitute for the one year of experience.
Desired Qualifications: - Demonstrated passion for service and a growth mindset.
Job Expectations: - If the employee will be driving, the Town will require a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record. A motor vehicle record will be pulled through the background check
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position can be considered.
