Job description

APPLICATIONS ENGINEER

Dynomax, Inc, a family-owned company, designs, manufactures, and develops high-precision machined components, injection molding and tooling, sub-assemblies, automated work cells, specialty machines, and machine tool spindles since 1986. We are seeking a skilled and well rounded Applications Engineer who will be responsible for troubleshooting, calibrating, diagnosis, and servicing CNC machines and its component parts, and controllers. He or she will also perform tests on machinery prior to returning to production and will troubleshoot errors and make corrections.

Applications Engineer Job Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and work instructions to determine service required of machinery
  • Test electrical/electronic systems in equipment, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
  • Inspect electronic control systems on equipment or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair
  • Provide electrical/electronic support for equipment failure issues
  • Perform all annual electrical maintenance tasks that include, but are not limited to, machine axis calibrations, kinematic calibrations, geometry alignment and motor tuning
  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning systems or components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of the breakdown and correct the problem
  • Properly analyze CNC diagnostic data to improve equipment functionality


Applications Engineer Job Requirements:

This key position is ideal for a skilled Applications Engineer with strong technical skills as well as excellent communication skills.

  • Proficient in the use of CNC machine calibration equipment, such as ball bar test equipment, diagnostic oscilloscopes, encoder testing equipment, and precision mechanical measuring tools
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the electronic machine control systems of industrial machinery
  • Ability to read electrical schematics
  • Knowledge of CNC controls and servo systems
  • Ability to use dial indicators or other precision mechanical measuring tools to ensure a machine is working properly and monitor operations
