Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Egg Processing Maintenance Technician is expected to achieve and maintain a level of competency, which allows them to ensure the equipment's efficient performance through regularly scheduled preventive and repair maintenance performance. In addition, the Maintenance Laborer verifies parts and supplies inventories. This person is also responsible for assisting the machine operator with directing workers in government and company sanitation regulations. Finally, the maintenance laborer inspects appearance and work methods of line personnel for conformance to machine operation standards. All duties should be performed in an exemplary and professional manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the following equipment preventive maintenance schedule and daily operation schedule (this list is not exclusive):
  • Regularly lubricate all appropriate machine components
  • Assist in ensuring that machine and work areas are being properly cleaned each day.
  • Perform inspection of machine and related equipment at regular intervals.
  • Repair and/replace broken parts as needed to avoid down time.
  • Regularly inspect and adjust all machine components and operating systems directly, or indirectly related to the production area.
  • Regularly communicate with machine operator and also assist with routine equipment maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Assist Quality Control Inspector to ensure final product meets all requirements and specifications.
  • Assist machine operator with maintaining an organized and safe working environment.
  • Be able to run the machine.
  • Assist in monitoring and adjusting printing on packaging to ensure clear and proper information.
  • Assist in ensuring that machine and production area are kept neat, clean and organized during operation.
  • Assist with oversight on new equipment installation.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local directives and regulations.
  • Complete and transmit of all appropriate paperwork associated with operations and performance.
  • Alert (within a reasonable time frame) the processing or complex manager of any urgent or emergency situations, which require immediate attention or approval.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of parts and supplies necessary in the maintaining of the machine.
  • Familiarize self with and conform to all Bio-security Program Policies.
  • Familiarize self with and ensure personnel comply and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices Handbook (GMP) policies when applicable.
  • Familiarize self with and comply with Company Safety Program.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to reach areas only accessible by ladder. Must be able to climb to and work on equipment in hard-to-reach areas.
  • Must be able to spend all day walking/standing on concrete surface.
  • Must possess and bring with them to work all tools necessary to perform the job

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary mechanical, technical training or degree preferred.
  • Capable of performing routine math calculations, including percentages and fractions.
  • Must be experienced in areas of mechanical functions (i.e., troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair).
  • Must be computer literate (i.e., working knowledge of Microsoft computer programs such as Word and Excel, Oracle experience or knowledge is helpful.)
  • Must be dependable, and be available to work flexible hours - including nights and weekends. Must also be available 24 hours to answer emergency calls.
  • Ability to quickly address critical and urgent situations in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Possess good decision making and organizational skills. High school diploma is required - basic communication and math skills are highly desired.
  • Capable of performing job duties while conforming to OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Ability to work with processing coworkers, supervisors, and other maintenance personnel in a professional manner.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas each varying in temperature, and other environment specific atmospheres.
  • Must be willing and able to work past the scheduled leave time to complete the job, if needed.
  • Must possess the ability to work in an open office setting.
  • Must maintain professionalism with coworkers.
