Position Overview:

The Sr. Tech Lead of Solutions Architecture is a key team member of the Freddie Mac's Enterprise Risk Business Technology Team within Enterprise Risk Organization. Enterprise Risk Business Technology Team provides technology and data solutions for Financial Risk, Non-Financial Risk, Financial Crimes and Compliance organizations, partnering across the Enterprise Risk to define strategies, roadmaps, objectives, and deliver capabilities that transform the businesses. This role will be responsible for the solution architecture for a sophisticated portfolio, enabling enterprise change through architectural leadership.

The Sr. Tech Lead, Architecture will be a key technical leader across product development, engineering, data, and business team, providing strategic leadership and technical mentorship. You will be responsible for architecting robust, scalable, and secure solutions, while playing a critical role in bridging the gap between business requirements and technical execution. You will be a key contributor to a technology strategy and will ensure alignment between programs across the Enterprise Risk, in partnership with business stakeholders, while adhering to overall Freddie Mac Technology principles. This position requires a strong communicator who can translate complex technical issues into easily understood communications that will influence executive audiences with varied technical backgrounds and capabilities

Your Impact:

  • Lead the design of complex, high-impact technical solutions across multiple systems and teams, contributing to the overall technology vision across Enterprise Risk.

  • Partner with product and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into architectural blueprints and implementation roadmaps.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, ensuring alignment with architecture principles and best practices.

  • Own and evolve architectural standards, patterns, and documentation for long-term scalability and maintainability.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and make strategic recommendations aligned with business goals.

  • Conduct architectural reviews and provide hands-on support when needed for technical decisions.

  • Drive cross-functional alignment, balancing innovation, speed, and technical debt.

  • Collaborate with Freddie Mac Enterprise Technology, Architecture, Data, and Security organizations to ensure solutions are aligned with enterprise standards and principles.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on experience with modern frameworks and technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Kafka, Angular, Java, Python)

  • 8+ years in a senior architectural or technical leadership role.

  • Deep experience in solution architecture, microservices, APIs, integration patterns, security best practices, micro-front ends, 12 factors, etc.

  • Proven track record of designing and deploying scalable, cloud-native solutions within AWS, Azure, or GCP (AWS is preferred).

  • Experience with building GenAI and AI solutions

  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle, CI/CD, DevOps practices, and Agile methodologies.

  • 3+ years of relevant large-scale enterprise transformation experience as relates to architecture preferred.

  • Prior experience in the primary or secondary mortgage industry is desirable, with architecture experience in highly regulated industries (e.g., (finance, healthcare) required.

  • Certifications in cloud architecture (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Professional, etc.) are preferred

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to influence senior stakeholder and translate complex ideas into actionable outcomes.

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $179,000 - $269,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program.
