Job description

MAC OS Engineer Team Lead

Arlington, VA

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the lead engineer and subject matter expert (SME) for macOS laptops, iPhones, and Apple client devices in a DoD environment.
  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise macOS and iOS configurations using approved Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions.
  • Ensure all Apple endpoints are compliant with DoD security standards, including DISA STIGs and RMF requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain secure macOS and iOS baseline configurations and build standards.
  • Perform system hardening, patching, and vulnerability remediation for Apple devices.
  • Support ACAS scans, security audits, and POA&M remediation activities related to macOS and iOS systems.
  • Integrate Apple devices with enterprise services such as Active Directory, identity management, certificate services, VPN, and network access controls.
  • Manage full device lifecycle operations, including provisioning, deployment, maintenance, upgrades, and decommissioning.
  • Implement and maintain endpoint security controls, including disk encryption, antivirus/EDR, and device compliance policies.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts for configuration management, compliance enforcement, and system maintenance.
  • Provide Tier III engineering and troubleshooting support for macOS and iOS-related issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and configuration guides for Apple platform support.
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity, network, and systems engineering teams to ensure secure and reliable endpoint operations.
  • Participate in change management, maintenance windows, and operational support activities as required.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.
  • Evaluate new Apple technologies and solutions for security, performance, and compliance within the DoD environment.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience with macOS
  • DOD IAT Level II Certification is required.
  • DOD Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Successfully pass background and drug screening
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of macOS and iOS enterprise administration, including system configuration, security features, and lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity requirements, specifically DISA STIGs, RMF, and vulnerability management processes.
  • Skill in managing Apple devices using MDM platforms (e.g., JAMF, Intune, Workspace ONE).
  • Skill in implementing and maintaining STIG-compliant configurations for macOS and iOS systems.
  • Skill in endpoint security integration, certificates, VPN, antivirus/EDR, and compliance policies.
  • Skill in troubleshooting complex macOS and iOS issues related to OS, applications, authentication, and network connectivity.
  • Knowledge of identity and authentication integration, including Active Directory and CAC/PIV or certificate-based authentication.
  • Skill in automation and scripting to improve configuration consistency and operational efficiency.
  • Ability to analyze vulnerabilities and perform remediation based on STIG findings, ACAS results, and audit requirements.
  • Ability to serve as the technical authority (SME) for Apple platforms and communicate effectively with cybersecurity, network, and operations teams.
