Job description

Security Officer (Night Shift)

Your role as a Security Officer (Night Shift):

You will be primarily responsible for patrolling the ballpark during shifts, ensuring a safe ballpark environment for guests and employees.

All the responsibilities we will trust you with:

  • Patrols all ballpark property as required and ensures, in a friendly and professional manner, the security of employees, contracted building partners, and visitors
  • Responds to safety and criminal incidents as they arise, taking appropriate action in accordance with training and policy, including contacting and coordinating with emergency services when necessary
  • Conducts detailed internal investigations into incidents and provides detailed, objective reports for each shift or incident
  • While assuming Loading Dock post: Inspects all vehicles entering the loading dock. Verifies deliveries with the corresponding schedules. Checks driver identifications and logs all deliveries accordingly
  • Monitors and operates closed-circuit surveillance, access control, and fire alarm systems
  • Attends briefing sessions to learn what events and activities are occurring within the ballpark and ascertains the status of event "load-ins" and "load-outs"
  • Acts as property first responder to alarms, medical calls, property damages, etc.
  • Maintains absolute confidentiality on sensitive issues
  • Maintains accurate notes and log information as required; ensures that all pass-on information is communicated to the next shift
  • Completes all activity logs, incident reports, repair forms, and other documents in a clear, concise, and legible format in a timely, efficient manner
  • Greet all clients, employees, guests, and vendors at Petco Park in a professional manner
  • Follows established Ballpark Security protocols and procedures at all times
  • Collaborates with other departments within the organization to strategically create positive publicity for the Club
  • Represents the Club positively and professionally at all times
  • Other duties as assigned

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most:

  • Maintain consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance
  • Possess a high degree of discretion, integrity, professionalism, and accountability
  • Must possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public professionally and effectively; must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines
  • Having a strong ability to communicate effectively and work well with others in a collaborative, respectful manner
  • Proficient in computer skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience in report writing, Motorola Solutions Avigilon CCTV System a plus but not necessary
  • Having previous experience working in large event or public assembly facilities is a plus, but not necessary
  • Having completed courses in criminal justice or security training by a recognized academy, school, or organization is a plus, but not necessary
  • Previous Law Enforcement/Public Safety experience is a plus, but not necessary
  • Previous Law Enforcement/Public Safety or Military experience a plus
  • Fluently bilingual in English/Spanish, a plus

You will be required to meet the following:

  • Must have a valid current driver's license with a good driving record (subject to review)
  • Must be available to work five, 8-hour flexible shifts per work week (Saturdayโ€“Friday), scheduled between 9:00 PM and 5:30 AM. Weekly schedules will vary based on operational needs, Padres games, and special events at Petco Park. Must be available to work overtime shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Must possess BSIS Proprietary Security Guard certification or BSIS Guard Card, or obtain within the first 30 days of employment
  • As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check

Salary and additional compensation:

Per the California pay transparency law, the base hourly rate for this full-time position is $21.14. As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills and any other factors the San Diego Padres considers relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
