Department:NursingOverall Purpose of the Position:
A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a nurse that has graduated from an accredited nursing program and is licensed as an LPN by the State of Hawaii. The LPN uses their training for performing quality nursing services for the care and treatment of patients in the offices.
Major Job Responsibilities:Percentage:1. Performs general nursing duties, i.e.: escorting the patient to the exam room or office as indicated; prepares the patient for the examination, taking and recording the vital signs, observing symptoms and eliciting information from the patient and reporting to the provider during the examination as necessary; carries out or assists with procedures and/or treatments as directed by the provider. 20%2. Prepares the patient records before the visit insuring that all reports are available; maintains an accurate record of all medications, injections and treatments administered to the patient during the course of the visit; checks patient record following the exam, and completes necessary requisition, and makes appointments for the patient with other departments or offices as indicated. 20%3. Directs and supervise other health care personnel in clinic, including delegation of duties to other clinical staff as appropriate and within their scope of practice. 20%4. Screens all phone calls to the provider to determine if an appointment is indicated; calls patients on the phone to relay instructions or advice from the provider as indicated. Performs patient teaching and/or nursing checks in accordance with provider guidelines.15%5. Assists in other offices when directed by the Director of Nursing or designee; performs other tasks and duties as directed by the provider and/or the nurse in charge.10%6. Maintains or oversees sanitary conditions in the office at all times; orders medical and clerical supplies as required.5%7. All other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.5%8. Demonstrates quality work, completes assignments on a timely basis, and makes decisions within limits of authority. Adheres to all company policies and procedures.2.5%9. Maintains time and attendance standards consistent with company policy.2.5%
Minimum Qualifications:Education/Experience:
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing; Licensure as a LPN in the State of Hawaii required; Active/unexpired CPR/BLS Card required.
Skills/Knowledge:
Ability to manage several tasks at the same time; works overtime as needed; updates education on own as necessary; knows and uses principles of good body mechanics.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrates effective communication and telephone skills; computer literacy preferred.Equipment Use:
Medical equipment - e.g. nebulizer, pulse oximetry, EKG machine, glucometer, and that specific to area/clinic of primary practice.
Characteristics:
Physically fit to perform the duties of the position; Willingly participates as a member of the nursing team; possesses effective organizational skills and maintains a "can-do" attitude.
Environmental Factors:
Walking (85%); sitting (15%); lifts 25 lbs. with occasional heavier loads

LPN starting @ $26.06 / MA starting @ $23.72; based on experience
