About Your Role

The Facilities Inspector will work closely with project managers, construction managers, contractors, engineers, consultants, testing laboratories, and client representatives to support quality assurance and quality control activities throughout all phases of project delivery.

Projects may include roadway improvements, airfield pavement projects, utility infrastructure upgrades, drainage systems, grading and earthwork, concrete and asphalt paving, transportation infrastructure, site development, and other public sector capital improvement initiatives.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering and one year experience in field inspections;

or

  • Two year associates degree in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technology and three years experience in field inspections and the proposed inspector shall be able to get either of the following within two:

NICET Level 3 Certification in one or more of the following fields:

  • Building Construction;
  • Construction Material Testing
  • Geotechnical
  • Transportation
  • Fire Protection
  • Industrial Instrumentation
  • Low voltage communication systems
  • Security Systems
  • Land Management and Water Control
  • Underground Utilities Construction

or

ICC Certification in one or more of the following fields:

  • B2 Commercial Building Inspector
  • E2 Commercial Electrical Inspector
  • M2 Commercial Mechanical Inspector
  • P2 Commercial Plumbing Inspector
  • 66 Fire Inspector

or

  • High school diploma or GED and 5 years experience in field inspections and any one certification of the following:

NICET Level 3 Certification in one or more of the following fields:

WhatYou'llNeed to Get the Job Done

  • 5-12 years of inspection or FACILITIES construction inspection experience supporting infrastructure, aviation, transportation, or public sector projects
  • Strong knowledge of FACILITIES construction means and methods, quality assurance practices, and inspection procedures
  • Experience inspecting grading, excavation, utilities, concrete, asphalt paving, drainage systems, roadway construction, and site development activities
  • Knowledge of applicable FACILITIES construction standards, specifications, safety regulations, and quality control procedures
  • Familiarity with FAA, DOT, ACI, ASTM, AASHTO, and local jurisdictional standards preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret FACILITIES construction drawings, specifications, schedules, testing reports, and technical documentation
  • Experience documenting field observations, deficiencies, punch list items, and corrective action activities
  • Strong understanding of construction safety requirements and OSHA regulations
  • Ability to identify quality deficiencies, non-conforming work, and construction compliance concerns while supporting resolution efforts
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with contractors, engineers, consultants, testing agencies, and project stakeholders in active construction environments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Experience utilizing digital inspection tools, project management software, and field reporting systems preferred

WhatYou'llDo

  • Perform inspections for FACILITIES infrastructure construction projects to help ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards
  • Conduct field inspections and site observations to monitor construction progress, workmanship quality, material installations, and contractor compliance
  • Review FACILITIES construction drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, schedules, and testing reports related to quality assurance and quality control activities
  • Monitor construction materials, testing activities, and field operations to verify compliance with approved standards and project requirements
  • Document inspection activities, field observations, deficiencies, punch list items, corrective actions, and non-conformance issues through written reports and digital reporting systems
  • Coordinate with project managers, construction managers, contractors, consultants, engineers, testing laboratories, and stakeholders to address quality concerns and support timely issue resolution
  • Verify corrective actions and conduct follow-up inspections to confirm compliance with project requirements and approved standards
  • Monitor contractor compliance with approved quality control plans, safety standards, environmental requirements, and project procedures
  • Participate in project meetings, coordination meetings, progress meetings, and safety meetings as required
  • Assist with testing, commissioning, turnover, and project closeout activities including punch list verification and documentation review
  • Maintain organized inspection records, photographs, reports, testing documentation, and quality records in accordance with project requirements
  • Support quality assurance and quality control initiatives throughout all phases of project delivery
  • Monitor project schedules and coordinate inspection activities to support construction sequencing and operational requirements
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, testing agencies, and project stakeholders
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to operational excellence across project teams

Salary Range

  • $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 annually
